Hunger vs Habit

I really can't tell if I'm hungry anymore and just eat out of habit or eat cause I am hungry.

Started taking reta 2mg 2x a week, much much better GI wise vs the 4mg where I felt like my stomach and ass were going to explode from pressure.

I usually dont have breakfast and have my first meal at 12:30ish. I have noticed I am more hungry in the morning but it subsides while I get some coffee in me and get busy at work.

"Lunch" time comes, do I eat because it's just lunch time and thats what I used to or am I actually hungry, hard to tell so I eat, usually egg whites in a low carb wrap and I'm nice and full, but could I have pushed and just waited to eat dinner.

Dinner comes, I cook for everyone and have no interest to eat most of the time but still have something. Hey the family is eating, it's time to eat.

So do I try and push through for 1 meal a day, try for 2 smaller meals, roll up to the buffet and just smell all the food?

How’s it feeling eating as you have been?

Hitting your goals? Looking like you wanna look? Energy level?
If it’s working don’t change anything…

I get the no breakfast thing because I’m not hungry when I wake up the first thing I do is drink a cuppa coffee. Then I get ready to work drive to work and have a cuppa coffee at my desk and I’m still not hungry. There are times when I have late morning breakfast or just wait until noon at least half of the time. Dinner always. When I skipped breakfast typically I have a blended drink or something that makes sense to eat later in the evening.

I go through cycles with my appetite, either being crazy hungry all the time or going weeks with hardly an appetite at all. So I get it. Sometimes you just eat to eat.

Would you drop lunch or dinner? Sounds like you’re hungry at lunch time. Give it a try and see how it goes. You can always throw a small dinner back in

Been on Tirzep a year now and my habits have totally changed. I only eat real food once a day. Then it is half of what I used to eat in a meal. The sad thing is I have lost all cravings for alcohol. I never abused it. Well not in like 20 years anyway. I did enjoy a nice glass of good bourbon once in a while. Now I don't even want a drink. Good for my health but still sad.

The only thing about such a drastic reduction of calories is going catabolic. I've worked hard for a long time to build the lean muscle tissue I've got, and I can't help but think that with just 1 meal a day, I'm losing weight, but half of my weight loss may be muscle.

Have you found yourself holding onto your muscle pretty well?

I have been supplementing a lot of protein. Shakes, bars,.....those little brownies are the shit btw. I actually feel like looking at me I have gained quite a bit of muscle while eating like this. I was 320 lbs last year and mostly fat. Now to be under 20% bf at 235ish depending on the day I weigh in. I got a scan this month and the guy said I had an incredible amount of muscle. That was all built up while I was on the Tirzep. He asked what my daily intake was and he was in shock. He said the TRT has helped maintain muscle quite a bit.

What I found on tirzepatide and retatrutide is that I have to make my meals smaller, especially the fattier ones like salmon or flank steak. I really cannot eat those meals with any sort of carb source other than mixed vegetables or I get halfway through and feel so full I am going to explode. 8 oz protein meals I can't do anymore. 6 oz is pretty much my limit and it is about the same on rice and potatoes. Maybe 7 oz if it has been 3 hours. I am not hungry at all, I just eat all my meals at the same time every day.

I've been trying to mix IF into this, guess I may need to rethink that with the smaller meals option.

ya want to lose weight ? put a mirror on the toilet tank so ya have to look at your gut every time you piss haahahah

then ya feel bad , want to eat out of depression and open the cabinet ,, sign says... You Fat Bastard .. ya close the door n go for a walk ;)

Maybe it’s an age thing? I find it very rare I am ever hungry when I wake up or even hours after coffee. Lately, I really haven’t been hungry at all and eating out of I need to eat something.

JackD, you read my mind. I was going to make a post if people have felt fuller as they age. I know for several years I often feel full and someone bloated after meals that once were no problem. Although I have to say it was always easier for me to get lean or stay lean than eat more. I am sitting here now, looking at the clock, and thinking I have to eat again in 1 hour.
