How to know your powders legit?

Hey guys is there any way you can tell/test if your powder is legit? After all most if not all of it comes from China.

You could do a melting point test.

Take like 100mg and put it on some aluminum foil in a preheated oven and check that the temp is like 10 degrees COOLER than what its supposed to melt at. Then put it in and make sure it doesnt melt, check temp again. BTW do all the checking of melting with the oven OFF because it heat cycles.

Next bump up the temp 10 degrees and turn the oven off when it gets there (check temp) and put the sample back in. Wait a few minutes and check for meltage.

Do the same thing, bump up 10 degrees, check heat and put in sample with the oven off. Check for meltage.

If its MP is 300 degrees and it didnt melt at 290 or 300 but melted when you tried 310, its close enough and by referencing the physical propeties you can be pretty sure.

this is a basic way to test MPs. You can get more advanced, but in homebrew you just need basics.

Below is a list if melting points for the common hormones.

Androstanolone- 5a-ANDROSTAN-17b-OL-3-ONE

Killer post Guss I was just looking for that, also just read through it and BOLDENONE UNDECLYNATE doesn't have a melting point listed. It is a liquid/paste at room temperature I believe so no it's pretty easy to separate it upon arrival.

Also forgot to add DO NOT GO BY THE THERMOMETER IN YOUR OVEN IT IS GARBAGE, go to the supermarket and pick up a couple thermometers and go by the average of them in the oven to get an "accurate" reading.

If you've messed with them enough you can tell by the smell.

TAMOXIFEN CITRATE- 2-[4-1,2-Diphenyl-1-Butenyl)

melting point= 290-295 F

molecular weight= 563.65

I ordered some nolva from a research place 20mg capsules and the 20mg was in powder form. Reviews were solid over the past 1-4 months but one user commented on my picture saying he used it about 5 months ago and it was bunk. So i did some researcha nd found this site and did the meting point test.

Results as follows..... Started to melt after 30 seconds at 290F. followed instructions took it out, turned off oven and reset oven to 300F put the stuff in and it completely melted in 45 seconds. Seems like its good to go, unless I did it wrong. Thoughts?

Sometimes you can tell by the color as well... a quick example would be var is usually a very vibrant and bright white while Drol is a dull white. If you put them next to each other you would easily be able to tell the difference. It's always a crapshoot if you're only ordering one product as it can be mislabeled even by the best of the best. But, hopefully if you know the right people to order from it won't be an issue
