What's New?

How often do you train glutes? Do you isolate? (question for both guys and girls)

I train all body parts but I want to focus on my lacking points. I wanted to get an idea from others who have good glutes so i can learn from them
Like I said, SQUATS are the best for glutes. This is why so many competitive powerlifters have big glutes. I seriously don't think anyone here is worried about glutes since they kind of come with hard leg training. You went way over board with these postings. Makes youu look like a kid who just started lifting

Yep, having a big ass is not want it wrapped up to be. Finding clothes is impossible. I remember many times at work squatting down to pick something up and the damn ass of my pants blew out.

Here in Houston we have a fad here with lipo injections in the ass for women. The look absolutely ridiculous.

So currently I train glutes on leg day. I do a lot of squats, deadlifts and leg presses, compound moves that target glutes. I use the glute machines, hip thrusts and romanian deadlifts occasionally.

How much glute exercises is sufficient in your opinion? both for aesthetics, muscle imbalances and injury prevention
Some of these female gymnasts have amazing glutes, I wonder what their glute routine is

Post your sample leg or glute workout

Here is my last one
4 sets heavy squats
3 sets leg extensions
3 sets calf raises
3 sets lying leg curl
3 sets romanian deadlifts
3 sets plate elevated bulgarian split squats
I thought direct glute training was for women and homosexual men.

Most professional bodybuilers do isolated glute training, including people like Chris Bumstead, Simeon Panda, Mike Nippard etc. Bodybuilding judges look at every part of your body. But it is true a lot of gay guys do glute workouts than straights

It was a joke but yeah. I never hit my ass like a muscle group separately. But I was a Judoka most of my life, which really shapes everything in the hip girdle, plus heavy squats and leg work well into my 50s. So, I had a very round and lean ass. The black girls called me bubbles and said I was white chocolate. Now I'm old and one side droops a little. Poor poor me. No pretty black girls patting my ass anymore. I blame Rich Gasperi for this queer focus on striated asses on men. I have never nor will every get on a bodybuilding stage. It's just not me. Plus I have a face like a serial killer. I would rather stand across the mat from another maniac that likes to slam people, choke people and snap arms. I just never had the desire to go to that level of drugs, dieting and posing near naked in public. I appreciate it but it's not for me. A lot of my friends do and I see how the whole competition thing can be rewarding and addictive. Striated glutes was never my goal. In fact, having pretty girls pat my ass wasn't either but I didn't mind too much.

An aside, I think the striated glutes in recent years looks awful. It shows so much scare tissue damage from injections. It's almost embarrassing to the sport.

"Most professional bodybuilers do isolated glute training" REALLY? Which ones?

Gluteus maximus - biomechanically is responsible for thigh extension, thigh external rotation, thigh abduction (superior part), thigh adduction (inferior part)

Thigh extension - most effective exercises squats, lunges, leg press. These exercise target the glutes because they are thee prime move in thigh/hip extension. In the doing the squat, synergistic muscle are used in thigh external rotation (knee and toes rotates outward, static contraction) and thigh adduction (static contraction) are also trained. Bent knee good mornings are another great exercise for targeting the thigh/hip extensions. Bix squats is another exercise show to develop the hip extensors.

I understand that Bret Contreras pushes these hip thrusts but doing squats will certainly take care of the glutes without looking like a homo. Most of the stuff Bret Contreras does is directed at women.

I looked at some workouts by supposedly by Chris Bumstead (classic physique, not a bodybuilder) and he says he does donkey kicks. WTF? Simeon Panda (doesn't look like a bodybuilder) seems to do squats but there is a video of some woman having him do so gay ass BW donkey kicks, never seen too many black folks that were not gifted in the ass. Mike Nippard (doesn't look like a bodybuilder either) does a glute/ham raise. I did enjoy the video on TMZ where Mike Van Wyck shoved Nippard on his ass. Nippard is labeled as a science based scammer. One thing I learned a long time ago, just because these guys on the internet tell you what they did doesn't mean they actually do any of that shit themselves. If you don't do squats and don't have the genetics for a big ass, you will never have one. Bro a little warning for you. Never listen to anything these phony "fitness influencers" have to say. They are all fraud just trying to get attention so they can live off hits on social media. They will never be a professional bodybuilder of any kind so they make money scamming people online.

OK, I have searched for about 1 hour and I have not see one IFBB bodybuilder that claims he does hip thrust or any of this other silly glute shit. Anyone else find one? Gone all the way back to 2000 Mr Olympia. I am not talking about the classic fitness guys or fitness influencers. These are not bodybuilders.

Here is a real professional bodybuilder......Samson Dauda, Mr Olympia, here is what he claims he does......He only does 4-5 basic exercises: superset kneeling leg curls, lying leg curls. Take a athlete to do kneeling leg curls...hack squats superset with knee extensions. SQUATS. This is what a Pro BODYBUILDER does.

Professional bodybuilders.... If you model your training after a professional bodybuilder you are going to be highly disappointed with the results. They have been told by Steve Weinberger and Tyler Manion where their deficiencies are, so they train to sustain what is good, often neglect what is great and focus on what needs to be brought up. Unless you are getting feedback form a top level judge, keep it simple. Focus on the big movements, train with maximum intensity, which if you do that for one compound movement you shouldn't have much left for anything else and get some accessory work in where you can. Start isolating when you have built a solid foundation.
