Raw covered most of what I would have said. Some other suggestions since you are starting out and likely not pushing a ton of weight right now are Olympic lifts and things like overhead squats or lunges. You do not need a lot of weight to build muscle with those exercises. They aren't the greatest for putting on size, but for a beginner they work well. You just have to ensure you form is good. Watch videos on proper form then video yourself doing them for a self critique.
