Hematoma on elbow?

A couple days ago I got a hematoma on my elbow when I whacked it on a metal upright in a stockroom after turning around suddenly. What's the best thing for it? Ice?

are you sure it is a hematoma? there is a bursa on the point of the elbow to protect the underlying tissue attachment and when it is hit it becomes inflammed and increases production of synovial fluid. depending on how bad it is one generally has the fluid taken off and bandaged and rest so that it heals without refilling. if it is really bad often times the fluid will be taken off and some depo put in to help decrease the inflammation.
