You a preworkout guy ? maybe something you're putting in ya before you get to the gym causing it ? I know when I get too much caffeine or coffee i feel all pukey n weird.
No preworkout for a long time. Coffee when I get up with about 16oz of filtered water. The surgery leaves you without a sphincter at the bottom of your esophagus so I have to sleep pretty much sitting up if for some reason I slip down horizontal in the night acids will go up and sometimes down into my lungs nothing good there.

Great log. Make me think I should run a log again.
Thanks so much! Long way to go but it's motivating to be back on the board and around others who are getting after it. Definitely start your log again.

I stopped keeping one about a year before WCBB went defunct. I kept it for 10 years. I stopped because I was having a lot of injuries and couldn't stop chasing the weight. Members would encourage me and I would keep chasing the weight. I would look back 5 -10 years and see there was no way I could keep chasing the weight since my body couldn't support the heavy load that I could years prior. So I stopped the log and stopped chasing the weight. I try to make the weight I can handle safely work for me but it would suck to post the numbers because they won't go up or I will be injured. Keep after it and train smart brother.

I completely understand what you’re saying as I know there’s no way in the world that I’ll be looking at another 900 pound squat 1000 was a goal at one time but it’s not in my wheelhouse now. However, that being said, I think there’s some value in us older guys, who are trying to hold the line at this part of our lives fighting through injuries and weird discomfort that we never experienced when we were chasing the big weights . I know you’re right about people encouraging each other and that’s definitely helping me. My last surgery really fucked me up and I literally didn’t work out at all for well over six years. I got fat as fuck and I listened to the doctors stop doing all the things that were supposedly making situations worse. I know from the past that I had crushed vertebra in my back and that all of my big squats and deadlifts came during the time after those injuries were from powerlifting the powerlifting strength and all the stabilizing muscles around my injuries, and made it possible for me to be much more pain than prior to that. So with that being said that’s where I’m at trying to optimize my quality of life by working hard through the pain trying not to go to Big that I injured myself. I want to make a shift to do more cutting , but I’m very limited with my digestive problems so I need to find the right combination of sets and reps and muscle group son which days and so on to try to get after it that way. Either way, thank you for coming by here and encouraging me I appreciate it .

Chest Shoulders and Tri's

Well I found the culprit of my latest "malady" and it goes to show the random and transitory nature of the shit that effects my digestive system following that fucking surgery. So for I don't know maybe a week I feel like I'm going to throw up and I'm dealing with burning reflux. I've been drinking a triple espresso every morning for decades LOL. Never had issues with it although skipping it would bring on a detox headache by noon. So today I decided skip the morning coffee and see, first workout with JB great no feeling of nausea no reflux came home fucked around for a while and about 1pm getting ready for the rest of the workout I'm still without symptoms I make the coffee and within minutes I get all the symptoms. Big bummer because it's gone for now I'll detox off the caffeine for a couple days and we'll see how it goes. I swear trying to explain this shit to Dr's etc for the last 8 years has been no fun but this while coffee hasn't been the culprit till this episode, the mechanism of one food or another doing similar things has been a regular occurrence. Anyway fuck it for now hopefully tomorrow I won't have to deal with the reflux or nausea.

Can ya set up some bands for over head work and hit some lighten sets ? That might help you ease into your lock out work with less stress on the man made parts. Get the big drive off your chest like you want but it might help that sting until you thicken it all back up.

It’s possible and I am thinking just as you said as it thickens up the sting will lessen. I’ve never been a bench guy and lockout on that arm was always the weak spot. I’m pretty happy with the progress. JB was chomping at the bit to add weight I had to intervene lol. Leaping ahead isn’t for us we need to keep reinforcing the foundation injury is the momentum killer and nobody needs that.

Really enjoying your log. Keep grinding. As you mentioned, sometimes you have your best workouts when you are literally dragging into the gym. Good on you for pushing through.
