    Good morning. I'm 43, 5'10" 230lbs. I've been in the gym now for 4 months. Looking to build muscle, and lose weight.

    Concentrate on onr or the other. Its not possible to build without a calorie surplus and also not possible to lose fat without a calorie deficit. Good luck. Welcome to the den.
