Also keep in mind that GH causes release of IGF-1 from the liver. IGF stands for insulin like growth factor. It resenbles insulin and blocks the insulin receptor and downstream expression of Glut4 glucose transporter. So, there is less glucose transport from the blood into cells and therefore serum glucose is higher. This is a major reason why GH uers at or above 6 iu/d use exogenous insulin. Without it the pancreas is overworked overproducing insulin and eventually burning out the beta cells causing diabetes. So, i you are using GH and see your fasting glucose going up it's a good idea to use a glucose disposal agent to avoid such issues.
