People sometimes talk about "atmosphere" when talking about training. How the right environment can make all the difference and I 100% agree. I came into the gym last night drained and didn't feel like training. It didn't help that I forgot to bring my training clothes so I had to train in my street clothes. The weight felt heavy, which it shouldn't have, and I was being lazy. It wasn't until the set of 4 that I got mad and decided not to be a bitch and actually performed the set correctly. There is a big difference between t'n'g (touch and go) and performing paused presses. My point is if you're able to train in a proper facility... do it. Don't be a bitch and not drive further, pay a bit more, etc... I currently train where I train b/c I work, have school, etc so I'm unable too but if you have the time, means, and want to really push yourself find a team and see what you're 100% really is.

Good post, @BrotherIron
It’s all about mindset and generating self motivation that leads to success not only in training but really anything in life.

That's very true. My university has been taking a shit on me the whole time I've been back. First, not getting my financial aid in time, second stating I have to many credits so I had to appeal my case, and third by informing me that if I want to pursue my undergrad degree in nursing I have to quit my job, sign a contract stating I won't work, and run up a mountain of debt. There are no part-time programs in my state.

You're probably asking yourself... Fuck, what are you going to do? Well, I'm not quitting for starters. I made the biggest decision of my life when I decided to go back to school this late in life and I'm not swaying, changing directions, and I'm sure as hell not quitting. I've decided to go Pre Med for my undergrad and than for grad school I'm off to do nursing. Seems crazy but it's the only loophole I can find where I can go to school and work at the same time.

My point to this rant is don't let shit get in your way and be sure to prioritize. Would it have been cool to focus on my hitting a 700 squat? Sure but it doesn't mean anything to anyone by myself. Getting these degrees and changing my life is FAR more important and in time.... I'll have my squat where I want it even it takes me longer.

Much respect at going after your goals, @BrotherIron

How many more years of schooling do you have left before graduation?
