FBI had financial institutions flagging transactions having dangerous terms such as "MAGA" and "Trump." Also were flagging dangerous purchases, such as a Bible. And also flagging purchases from dangerous institutions, such as Cabelas and Bass Pro Shop.

And you know what's really infuriating? That no one at the financial institutions were blowing the whistle on this BS!

Why am I not surprised?? I don't understand why so much resources sent on surveillance on American citizens. I understand keeping an eye out for money laundering sending money to terrorist organizations but who the hell cares if I buy a Bible and a box of bullets? It's crazy that everything we do in our lives now is scrutinized and categorized and without even knowing who we are they already decide the type of person they think we are and then we're on a watch list forever.

Not shocked. Order a bunch of high powered rounds and night vision binoculars from Crapbellas (not a typo) and you go to the front of the line. Hunting yotes my ass, you're an anarchist.

I hear they are also taking a deep dive into guys who post the new report about this shit too. FYI

Just did some reading. They are also monitoring for terms like Antifa and Black Lives Matter. Interesting..

I'm against this type of spying.. But in the interest of context I wanted to add something.

This monitoring is specific to the January 6th riot investigations. That is, the monitoring stems from investigations into that incident. This is according to sources from The Christian Post, The Washington Examiner and the Western Journal. It is not a wide ranging search for all Antifa or MAGA/Trump supporters.

Not that it is right to extend the searches like this. But context helps.

I'm trying hard to check myself when I see a news story that seems to immediately anger me. Because there is usually a journalist somewhere looking to have their story read by a lot a people. And the way to get your story read is to appeal to a person's internal pre-existing biases. We all owe it to the truth to realize we all have our biases.

It's my understanding that getting access to bank account information is already possible, but the gov't has to obtain a warrant, and that requires them to establish probable cause with a judge. There's no reason the gov't should be able to bypass this constitutional requirement, IMO.

What is craziest about this is that the banks actually (BOA and Citibank for instance) came to the FBI with the information first. So even more strange is the fact that the banks are searching and then turning the information over without the government even asking in many cases. Banks are volunteering the information of the own volition. The banks are snitching.

Sounds like grounds for a class action lawsuit, as I expect there are certain privacy protections in their terms of service. But who knows....

I'd feel a lot better if they were flagging terms like ISIS, nuclear triggers, etc.
