So, I never claimed to be a bodybuilder. Truthfully, it's too much damn work. But I like being big and strong. Spent my young adult years working a second (night) job in a firewood lot moving logs around. Did that for 12 years. Also dabbled in weight lifting during those years. But not seriously. When that job came to a close I put that energy into lifting. Of course it came natural to me. I'm a big strong guy. 6'4 (maybe 6'3 after the lumber surgery, hahaha) and a wide big bones build, I knew bodybuilding wasn't the path for me anyways. I've got friends who body build and none of them are this size.

But now, health issues are coming at me. It's time to face it, I need to be less fat and less strong. At 53 it's tough carrying the weight around like I did for decades. I like being strong as fuck, but I want to watch my grandchildren grow up.

January 1st I weighed in at 363lbs. it's February 11th, down to 337.

I'm using the same diet I used once in 2003, when I lost over 100lbs. Basically a shit ton of veggies and good solid meat. Two controlled cheat meals each week. Nothing crazy. Calorie restricted. My daily calorie burn is around 4500. My calories are restricted at 2500.

4 day split at the gym. Working around back issues, a previously torn distal tendon, knee issues, right shoulder, torn left calf muscle, the usual old man shit.

Chest and tris.
Back and biceps
Legs (finally back at this after two months of atrophy after fucking my knee up)
delts and traps

Most days I'm getting around 15 to 20 working sets. From a curent 337lbs I'm thinking of my goal weight being around 260lbs to 270lbs.

I'm going to start doing some major low weight reps with the legs. Keep heavy on pushing. Rep the pulling.

Hoping to be done around 320lbs by March-ish

At our peak, we had 9 rescues, and I had about twice as many dog-oriented tee shirts. About half championed mixed breed rescues, so I made some friends and some foes among dog owners. I never asked who was for or a'gin trump ... no point in pissing off everybody.

Did you have a particular dog breed you liked more? My wife and I love all dogs, but we really love greyhounds, boxers, goldens, labs.. But especially greyhounds. Something about those soulful eyes. That peaceful nature.

No, not only did we have mixed breed rescues, but we went crazy. Eight of the 9 were each a mixed breed. Our first adoption was kinda small for a Black Lab, but we were told she almost died as a baby ... she grew up vigorous, but that might have stunted her growth(?) I tell folks the smallest one is a Rat-Terrier Mix, but that is just a joke ... the obnoxious little fuck is more like a Rat mixed with some kind of Terrier.

The only particular dog (type) we liked less was any of the shaggier ones ... for practical reasons only. Pure bred Golden Retrievers strike me as 1 of the very best all-around Dogs, but with so many options, we have avoided shaggy.

"Swell Log" so far, fasttwitch, but you triggered me when you replied to my (first) ot post here. Like some politicians, I take no responsibility for that ;).

There he is. That’s you. Now you got that out of the way, and I know it wasn’t easy after all the mess ya’been typing, but you did it and now you just gotta keep getting after it.

Good job. Meat and veggies is a damn good start. Throw some liver in there, some fruit around workouts (sorry TB), and you’ll keep dropping until you’re healthy and leveled out.

True. Funny you mentioned it, but I'll often do carrots, a apple and some grapes in the blender. Chug it done. Along with coffee on the side, of course. Haha..

I love liver (friends who hunt save me the deer liver) , but the ole woman would probably lose her shit if I cooked some up.
