The thing i like about this the most is there is no added calories to the beef aside from the little bit of olive oil we use to brown the meat. i like to have a large surface area on the bottom of the pan when i cook this.
I have been making this for my wife for a while for her diet but my son and i kept stealing it all, so now i make hers with GFB and ours with regular stew meat. i am going to go cook 6 pounds of this right now!
Ingredients
2 pounds stew beef
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 cups beef broth (if its too strong for your liking sub 1 cup of beef broth for 1 cup water)
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 clove garlic, peeled
1 or 2 bay leaves
1 medium onion, sliced
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon paprika
Dash ground allspice or ground cloves
3 ribs celery, chopped
Directions
Brown meat in hot oil. Add broth, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, bay leaves, onion, salt, pepper, paprika, and allspice. Cover and simmer 1 1/2 hours. Remove bay leaves and garlic clove. Add celery. Cover and cook 30 to 40 minutes longer.
