A 12-year veteran of Dallas Fire Rescue remains in custody in Collin County facing seven felony counts after police say he sold steroids to an undercover Allen police officer.
Gregory Whiteley, 46, an amateur bodybuilder who lives in Allen, is being held on $350,000 bail on seven counts of manufacturing or delivery of a controlled substance under 200 grams, jail records show.
Whiteley will be placed on administrative leave if he is released from jail, said Jason Evans, a Dallas Fire Rescue spokesman. "Once he's released, we can begin an investigation," he said.
Whiteley declined an interview request. He has no attorney, jail records show. His wife, Cyndi, could not be reached, but told KTVT (Channel 11) that her husband is wrongly accused.
Allen police Sgt. Jon Felty said that an informant told detectives about Whiteley. "They talked with him for several days, and they put together a buy," he said.
The transaction occurred near a Gold's Gym in Plano, Felty said. Investigators then obtained a warrant and arrested Whiteley at his Allen home, he said.
Whiteley was caught selling seven different types of steroids, each a second-degree felony punishable by two to 20 years in prison and a $10,000 fine, Felty said. He did not say what the substances were.
Felty said he did not know if Whiteley was cooperating with investigators, or whether detectives have information about his clients or suppliers.
