I’ve been on an Amaro kick for the summer. If you like the Fernet try Averna or Ramazotti amaro with some red vermouth and a splash of seltzer. It’s like Miller Lite for the sophist-a-macated gentleman.
Cynar is okay, not my favorite, but I also don’t like artichokes so why would I like Cynar lolCynar is a type of amaro as is Fernet. Cynar is ok but tastes a little like flat Coke. As for vermouth I like Cinzano (Italy’s Budweiser) 1:1;1 ratio of Amaro/Vermouth/Seltzer.
If you haven’t had Campari it’s also technically amaro.
Campari, Hendricks Gin and Cinzano is my go to cocktail when eating Italian.
