Cask strength scotch doesn't lose any flavor. Watered down to 80 proof does.
Touche. Too much bite. I always add a splash of distilled water to my scotch, opens up the nose.

Take a look at Single Malt Scotch Society, it's pricy but they release some of the finest scotches along with tasting notes and how many drops of water to add to release maximum flavor.

Can someone explain to me what water does to "open up" the liquor? Obviously, you're adding another chemical to the mixture, but I'm interested to better understand what's happening and why.

Had to look it up. Never hear of it before. A wormwood concoction I see. And how might one consume this liqueur?

Ummm where in Dallas.

Been to Deep Ellum brewing, Community, Bitter sisters, 3 nations, Martin house, Four corners. But never heard of Manhattan!
I haven't been to Deep Ellum in quite some time. Is it still more of an alt/sort of goth type of crowd? It can be interesting for sure but you def won't catch me there late night.

It’s best to take a shot of it. A sip will give you the flavor and some mixologists have some awesome drink combos with it, but in reality, take the shot and drink your beer! The Chicago handshake!
