I really enjoy Knob Creek, the regular stuff. It's very nice for it's price point, IMO. I've never had a high proof Knob Creek, it sounds nice. I got a handle of the Crown Royal Black a couple of weeks ago, and it's been a while since I had it. It really beats quite a few liquors that are much high price points and have fancy pants reps. But the Black really is a quality drink, either neat or with cubes.Cracked a Knob Creek private select 120 proof that one of my bourbon groups picked. It was HOT and needed a few cubes to mellow it out, then really nice.
I like the regular knob creek but am a real scotch fan. Other whiskies just don't have the complexity IMO or maybe my palate is not sophisticated enough to discern. 120 proof liquor is too much for me.Cracked a Knob Creek private select 120 proof that one of my bourbon groups picked. I'll admit that I'm not a huge scotch fan, but so many people tell me I'm missing out. I was giving scotch a good try years ago, but it seemed like the industry was moving to extremely smokey flavors, and I felt like I was sucking on a pieced of charred wood. Was just too much. I'm hoping that the industry is backing off a bit, so that the smoke is more subtle....If you like scotch and like a STRONG tasting scotch try Ardbeg 10year single malt. Young enough you still get the flavors of fermentation but old enough to get the cask flavor as well. Peat and smoke forward this is my fav. I would rather have this than a 25 year rare scotch.
