Hey, I recently found out that a have a short muscle belly or (high bicep insertion)

to be honest I'm a little disappointed, I dislike the big gap between my bicep and my elbow.

I was wondering of one: I can change this because I prefer the look of long muscle bellies?

And two: does affect/restrict my ability to grow? I'm worried my genetics on this will hinder my growth.

thanks for hearin' me out.

I've heard people saying if you want to compete, a short muscle belly will put you at a disadvantage, it's been my dream to compete in bodybuilding ever since I was little.

Is this one genetic difference going to make me fail?

Don't let it stop you from competing. Learn to play to your strengths. I've heard the short arm muscle bellies is where the big peaked biceps come from? idk
Huh, I'll look into that. My biceps are less spaced and more tightly bound to one place so my bicep peaks being taller would make since.

Your right, I know better then to worry so much. But honestly I have so much fear that I'll fail.
Thank you for bringing me some peace of mind, I'll try an look to play my strengths!

Not making the pro ranks doesn't mean you've failed. On the other hand, making the pro ranks doesn't mean you have succeeded either.

Bodybuilding is about having fun and improving your physique to the best of your abilities. Very few have the genetic makeup to become a top pro... I know I sure as hell don't... but I still enjoy bodybuilding and everything that goes along with it. Have a great time in the gym, meet some friends and improve your body and mind. Don't worry about things that are out of your control.

Good luck!!

I've seen this firsthand. My buddy competes, short muscle belly. Makes his bicps look extremely peaked.

well, ok. Thank you all! I guess I have nothing to worry about haha.

It is the breaks, I think. Man, we all want what we don't have. :)

I always hated that my bench was never great for my size. I am built wide. Super wide shoulders. 6'4. Long arms. Currently 350lbs. But even at 390lbs my max bench might have been 430? Tops. I have a friend a hundred pounds less and 10 inches shorter putting up more weight on the bench. But then he complains that his back will not develop. Another friend who competes can't get his calves to grow.

Personally I'd give it all up for a 10 inch middle leg! Haha... :D

yeah, you got that right haha. Even you, I'd love to be 350lbs and benching 430. I'm only 160lbs and benching 130 tops, I've only been bodybuilding for a little over a year, though, so that'll change in time.
I just got to learn to love the genetics I got and keep growing, I'll get to compete one day if I keep at it.

There's advantages to being either long or short. I'm long. I really don't think there's anything you can do about it. It's genetics. It's not a big deal though.

yeah, I just like how the long bicep belly looks when resting, It looks bigger and more full.

But now I've learned it's not really important, and I'm excited to hear short bellies have higher peaks.

I'ma try not to worry as much from now on haha. Thanks bro

Both can look great. Work with what you have.
