There is a lot to be said about that Tommy. We can definitely see it when guys try and prep for a show just fitting the macros and not eating a bodybuilder's diet. They look like shit compared to everyone else, if they even make it to the stage. One of the top influencers just learn that the hard way at Universe this year after talking a lot of shit. He did so poorly, he skipped Masters Nationals.I think the point he's making is that he doesn't think his macros matter too much, as long as he's only in a mild caloric surplus. I think in general, he's correct. But you'll make the "best" progress on your lean bulk by keeping the calories cleaner and staying within the target caloric surplus.
Remember, it's a marathon and not a sprint. So any one day is fine to have yourself a treat. But if you're eating ice cream every day (just an exaggerated example), your progress will not be quite as good as when ice cream stays a periodic treat (e.g., once a week). But it's up to you. You get all the benefit and pay the full price for your decisions. It's up to you. I think giving yourself a periodic treat can be a good thing as a reward for your dedicated hard work. But "periodic" should not be "all the time." LOL
You sound like my older brother , Rand is still the same size we were in school. He's a chef ,, doesn't lift , never has , he just does not store body fat. Eats like a horse too since we were kids but he takes his shirt off and hes skinny jacked like fucking Bruce Lee , even at 62 .. its disgusting LOLWhat you eat greatly depends on your genetics. I am around 10% BF and eat ice cream every night. I also eat plenty of carbs. It is not only hard for me to gain weight but I don't store a lot of fat and never really have. I consume 5000cal/d on the week days and 2600cal on the weekend. I am just hoping to maintain. My wife is a former IFBB pro and she eats a fraction of what I eat and gets fat. She can't eat carbs at all because they quickly store as fat. She has no idea what ice cream taste like. In general the higher the glycemic index of the carb the greater the propensity for it to store as fat once your body glycogen stores have been filled. Again, what you honestly need to do is learn how to eat. You are 16 years old and have a high metabolism. You need all the macros you can eat to gain. Get a good solid muscular physique and then start worrying about macros, micros and getting that six pac. You don't need to worry about a lean bulk, you need to be concerned with learning to eat enough to support muscle growth. You are thinking way to far ahead for only being 16.
i started mentzer method and i have progress in increasing weights, when i cannot on volume training... i think human physiology is not changed and is not different so this method is not outdated if it worked back then it will work now too!Ok I ran a search on your posts and found you. Young guy, 16 just getting going.
my best advice I could give is forget the mentzer method. He was a little crazy and that stuff is pretty out of date.
Look for some stuff from John Meadows or Justin Harris and think you will be better off.
again there are plenty of guys here that
Can help you out of if you will let them.
thanks man i will post updates in 3 months i think let see if i get progress with mentzer routine, i have many years i will see what program give me best progress, i was doing arnold split then high volume split nothing worked, lets see if hit mentzer style will work thanks!Gotcha. Come back in a few years
And maybe you can show me what’s up.
For now my opinion is your not really old enough to even be here and your not smart enough to listen. I was young and hard headed before as well though. Good luck on your journey
