I have shoulder impingement and have recently read about the broom stick stretches. Which of the broomstick stretch is better for impingement ( subscapularis or Infraspinatus)

Broom Stick Subscapularis Stretch

Broom Stick Infraspinatus Stretch

I did subscapularis stretch yesterday and feel sore on inner side of scapula. Does this mean the strectch is working?
My shoulder is more sore than normal, howeve, that could be because of other things.

I perform stick stretches 4x week as part of my shoulder rehab. I don't perform those 2 but I do perform 4-5 movements and they have worked wonders for my severe impingement. It keeps my out of surgery so I'd call it a win - win for me. If anyone is wondering what I do you can read up on them in my journal.

The only stick stretch i've heard of is taking it over your head and right down behind you to waist level with straight arms. I've never seen those other two stretches before. Might try them to see.

Those two stretches are popular and often recommended. My goto is disconnects, but I prefer using a miniband in lieu of a broomstick.

A little soreness from a new stretch is to be expected, but I wouldn't push it because you could have a setback if you overstretch a tight, injured muscle.

I put an older gentleman onto this while chatting at the pool. He, for years, had all sorts of crunching going on and his shoulder mobility was trash. I was demonstrating with a beach towel and he could barely get that over his head and back. Fast forward two months and he was showing me how much he gained and how the crunching was going away. I could hear it from about 6 feet away the first time we talked. Couldn't hear it at all months later. He's thanked me numerous times. I suggested wall Angels (from BrotherIron log), broom stick stretches but with a band (like UncleAl mentioned) and internal/external rotations with 5lbs plates.

As long as there isn't some sort of acute injury I would recommend them to everyone as a warmup before bench and squats.

Now I just gotta figure out how to gain shoulder mobility even more so these squats quit hurting me...
