I have noticed after a set of squats I feel a little light-headed. Nothing like I was going to take a header but I do have to catch my breath and stand still for about 30 seconds. I figured it was because I'm doing a Giant set for upper legs and it is taxing.

Yesterday I tried something; I did not take my BP med the night before and I noticed a considerable difference climbing out of the squat rack. Studies out there have BP reading during heavy squats in the 400/200 zone and I have seen studies even a bit higher.

One day does not make a a conclusion but I'm going to continue with taking off from the BP the night before squats. For the record, my resting BP is fine: 116/68 so I'm in no danger of popping a gasket.

Any thoughts men?

I wonder if after you're done your BP is actually the other direction and you're hypotensive, particularly in your upper body because your lower body is so engorged with blood. Your resting BP is fantastic. That's incredible about BP reaching that high. I always wondered how large the spikes were during a lift.

Pretty much what I’m thinking. Your bp is dropping for some reason. Or at least it’s not raising enough to keep blood in your head/brain when you’re squatting. It raises for a reason when lifting. Seems that it’s not raising enough to keep blood in your brain hence the issue. May not need bp medication anymore or maybe consider a lower dose.

I’m curious what other supps you’re using as well? Something like Cialis preworkout? Great for pumps but on top of your regular BP medicine could be dropping it too low. Did u add anything new recently? I’m assuming this is a new issue and u have been on your BP medicine a long time. So what changed? Or yeah, could be because of the giant set which is new. Some reason your not getting enough blood to your head it sounds like.

Those ridiculously high BP numbers on heavy leg sets are pretty normal. I have even seen where machines --/-- out, because the machine couldn't even read the numbers.

I am just surprised that not taking BP medication for one day made much of a difference from what you were experiencing before. Maybe there are other factors involved, like high RBC/HCT, poor sleep, head cold, etc...

Google orthostatic hypotension. It’s a bad idea to stop taking the BP med and a better idea to take an extra 5seconds holding onto the rack or staying seated in the leg press.

No to dollar fill the day before. It seems to be okay with other workouts, just over 10 reps on the squat and the giant set seems to gas me a little more.

Not stopping, just skipping a day. IMO, I bet a could forgo the med until I cycle. I just rather be a little under than a little over
