The narrower the better in the long haul......not that stupid grip you see where guys hands are touching...kiss your wrists goodbye at 40 on that 16 inch grip for tri training and 24 inch for chest. Only go wide if you wear a bench shirt....

I've been changing my grip lately. I will go really wide but I make sure my shoulders are tucked and my form is spot on.

Some of the wide grips I've seen are just begging for a pectoral trauma... Like KB said above though, except in a bench shirt... Actually sometimes in a bench shirt too lol

I take a medium grip I guess. around 30-35 inches. I use to go wider than that but like stated above I'm getn older and need to thing about the long game without shoulder problems.

I take a wide grip with my pinky finger on the ring of the bar. For me that has always been the most comfortable. I'll go medium and narrow grip rarely.

I use a wide grip for benching. Just outside of the ring. I feel like I get the best chest workout this way.

Let me say when I do go wide I go light I seem to be able to get a lot of blood in my chest. I would never do close to my max. I close grip tricep bench and finish with 315 for 2 I've always been stronger in tighter and have had no problems.

I agree with you guys that to hit chest you have to go wider but I am 55 going on 56 and have been training for 35 years....Wide grip benching will catch up to you....There are much better exercises to hit chest that flat barbell benches.DB flat benches and Incline work. Just trying to prevent what I went through. Both rotator cuffs tore off. Surgery on both.....15 years of can't turn over in bed. I went back into bodybuilding from Powerlifting and since I cut the low rep work ( it was hard at first) I am finally pain free. Instead of benching 315X5 I know rarely go over 225 with pinky on the rings for 12-15. Real slow and it will hit the pecs....heavy benching was never a chest exercise to me anyway....more triceps...Ken

I move widths around depending on what im trying to work but nothing too far outside of shoulder width as POB said it's begging for a injury. I know because I was once young and dumb and didnt listen to anyone
