These stacks use to be $45. Now these average $70+.

Three pieces of Ribeye. Cost per steak: $24.

I can afford to eat like this. What about the masses?

Geez.. $24.99 a pound. I rarely eat red meat anymore, but that's more to do with just how tough it seems for me to digest it nowadays. I'll get a pack of ground beef maybe every other week and even with that chew the hell out of it before swallowing. I love a good steak, especially a ribeye, but holy shit that's a lot of money.

HardManifest,
My wife usually gets Boneless New York Strip for $9.99 lb. at Publix. She brought home a nice RibEye last night that had the bone in for $9.99 lb.
She got it because the piece of bone was only about 3" to 4" long and 1/2" wide. One of the best pieces of meat I have had in a while.
Going back tonight to see if they have anymore in the meat section. I'll check on the boneless price for comparison.

I only ever eat ground beef. It's just easier for me to eat. I buy the whole steer and have the butcher grind it into one pound packs with the exact amount of fat that I want in it.

These pieces I place them in the oven for about 15-16 minutes. It's easy to eat. The tough part is not sharing with my dogs. I use to buy rib eyes for them when it was less than $50. Now that bill its a pricey piece of meat at $25/lb. Ground meat I go with lean chicken. I get tired of chicken easily. I just dump a bunch of spinach in it.

I do a rare cook. I like it dripping red.

The ribeye has a soft easy chew.

Anymore I only buy during sales. I typically get 80/20 ground beef between $2.98-$3.49 lb.
On occasion I find NY steak at $7,99, and ribeye between $9.99-12.99lb sale priced.
This can really add up even at those prices being that my dietary style is the species appropriate historical OG, carnivore :)

3.89/lb where at? You are getting premium for that price?
The butcher. I get a 1/2 side of beef at a time, so I split the kill fee with a buddy then pay for hanging weight. The one we butchered this year came out to $3.89 a pound when all said and done. They are Jersey's and grass fed, so they taste great. A 1/2 side of beef lasts me about 2 years, because I usually kill 3-4 deer per year and an occasional hog. Two summers ago, it was $3.63 a pound, so even directly at the source the price has gone up a bit.

I bought 1/2 a cow last year and it was around $2.50 per pound. Not sure what it is today, but I will definitely be buying another 1/2 a cow.
