Aspartame nothing but a chemical poison?

some people are a good deal more sensitive than others...if the product had adverse physical effects in the majority it just would not exist as the dominant sweetener in the marketplace with all diet soda of major branding using it , interesting and worth taking note of realy imo.
excitotoxins can most certainly affect hunger and weight control amongst other things and are certainly not good to imbibe in any quantity wherein the user notices ill effects .

Aspartame is nothing but a chemical poison. It has a methyl ester in it that becomes methanol(wood alcohol), and in the body(at 86 degrees F) this methanol converts to formaldehyde and formic acid(ant sting poison) which in turn causes metabolic acidosis.(see Merck Index,pg 143)
A neurosurgeon by the name of Dr. Russell Blaylock wrote a book titled: EXCITOTOXINS: THE TASTE THAT KILLS. his research as published in the book says that the ingredients in NutraSweet(aspartame) literally stimulate the neurons of the brain to death, causing brain damage in varying degrees. this is even written on the back of the book! he also declares that aspartame can even trigger diabetes. In August,1995, the FDA listed the following symptoms from the consumption of aspartame: Headaches, dizziness or balance problems, change in mood quality or level, vomiting and nausea, abdominal pain and cramps, change in vision, diarrhea, seizures and convulsions, change in heart rate, itching, change in sensation(numbness, tingling), grand mal seizures, local swelling, change in activity level, difficulty in breathing, oral sensory changes, change in menstrual pattern, other localized pain and tenderness, other urogenital problems, body temperature changes, swallowing difficulty, other metabolic problems, joint and bone pain, speech impairment, miscellaneous gastrointestinal problems, chest pain, other musculo-skeletal problems, fainting, sore throat, other cardiovascular problems, change in taste, difficulty in urination, other respiratory problems, edema, change in hearing, change in perspiration problems, eye irritation, unspecified muscle tremors, petit mal, change in body weight, change in thirst or water intake, inconsciousness and coma, wheezing, constipation, other extremity pain, problems with bleeding, unsteady gait, coughing, blood glucose disorders, blood pressure changes, changes in skin and nail coloration, change in hair or nails, excessive phlegm production, change in smell,DEATH, other blood and lymphatic problems, eczema, complex partial seizures, swollen lymph nodes, hematuria, shortness of breath, difficulties with pregnancy, developmental retardation in children, change in breast size or tenderness, change in sexual function, shock, conjunctivitis, dilating eyes.

Notice how the FDA likes to throw the word DEATH in the middle of all those other side-effect 'symptoms'. what a great alternative to white, refined sugar!!

if your one of the unlucky few, interesting is right.

decide for your self, think I'm gona stay away from this crap though!

Christine Bruhn now joins us, this morning, to help clear things up, PhD and director of the Center for Consumer Research at the University of California Davis.

OK, Lori in West Virginia writes this morning and she says, "I drink about three bottles of diet soda a day. A hear conflicting information on aspartame. Everything from: it's safe to it causes everything from weight gain and brain cancer. Is aspartame safe?"

Good question.

BRUHN: Yes, many of us enjoy diet soda as a way of having a different beverage and controlling calories a little bit. And actually, that is a fine and safe thing to do. There are a few people, a minority, who have -- who are missing an enzyme and can't digest some of the components that are in aspartame and that's why there's a warning on some of the packages. But for most people, consuming this is just fine, and it's a good way to save calories. There have been studies done both laboratory controlled studies and actual free living people indicating that if individuals consume diet soda they are actually cutting their calories down. So, it's a good way to maintain weight, but a critical thing to remember is don't let that diet soda replace other things your body needs. You need water -- drink water. You need to have fruits and vegetables, so be sure you have -- you know, a glass of juice or something like that, and then very important, be sure you're getting enough calcium. Our most common source of calcium is milk. Adults should have two to three servings, kids have three or more servings. We don't lose our need for this nutrient when we are adults, so be sure that you're getting the rest of your diet -- is balanced.

Now that I've read a bit more!
The fact is that a BAD affects are shown and they just don't know how it all comes about. Yes, it may take 'alot', however, as with all the dead and dying first responders, WTC nearly ALL are sick and it was said to be 'safe'. what's crazy as hell is some people were coughing and sick within HOURS!
may take 10 more more 20z drinks but still! i'ts poisonous crap imo!

It accumulates, used it for years then horrible nerve pains like carpal tunnel started, figured out it was the artificial sweetener, did a half dozen detoxes and found out the best was just fruits, berries for 21 days, but still very sensitive to the crap

Aspartame and Formaldehyde (or not…) « What does the Science say?

and there is the extremely valid other side of the coin. I especially like that fruit juice results in methanol then formaldehyde formation more than aspertame. I try to avoid artificial sweetners as I don't like synthetics our bodies can't digest but too many people don't really look into the stuff they believe. I'd go the stevia route before other choices personally.

50% of the research says it's fine and 50% says it isn't.

But LESSOR wt is on the 50% saying it's fine because nearly ALL of those studies were backed by monsanto and others who had aspartame interests.$$$ from what I see.

trehalose may be a good one, well so far it looks good from what little i've read.( an anti-oxidant )

People generalize with the funding too much, show the study in which was funded by said company but show how the actual study was flawed if you are going to do so as in how did the funding corrupt the study? If the study had of contradicted the interest of those funding it it wouldn't get published however just because in the end it came out in their favor does not mean the study is flawed. I urge people to look at the actual studies the actual science, if the researchers are misrepresenting the data the study will show it upon review.

What the funding does make you wonder is what studies didn't get to see the light but it's an open ended question it doesn't make a well planned an executed study hold less weight. I say this with all research, read the study not just the abstract and have a solid base in science so you can weed out the good from the bad.

Very good points,But I will always look also at the fact that big money pharmaceutical of mainly Greedy US companies is another thing to keep your eye on to though. But you do have to read, re-read and weed out the good from the bad. Yes there are plenty of good studies out there funded independently of the pharmo companies also. Jumpimg to conclusions to fast is never a good idea either.

And for sure I will listen to people like you who reasearch nutrit exclusively and is there field of expertise.

respect.

peace.
