I feel we need an electoral college in every state to balance out the corrupt cities that decide for everyone else. Cities vs country and the city always wins. It's been this way since Moses got up and put his sandals on in the morning. Moses' sandals!
I live in Michigan; the whole state can be red, yet Detroit rules us all. I am not sure an Electoral vote per state would even help us.

This is biblical. All nations must be broken for one-world government to rise. America is done. But that is exciting, because that means we are closer to ultimate victory!

Was raised a republican by my parents. Rebelled against their parents who were union democrats in Chicago. We we lower lower middle class and I always hated those that got free shit. Black socialism was the start of American destruction in the 60's followed by globalization in the decades after. I am changing to an independent....tired of the weak ass repubes and the worthless dummykrauts. Remember Steve Forbes and his flat tax .....Ross Perot ? Lol could always have voted for Jesse Jackson

Doesn't really matter what you think or believe as our government system is at an all time high of backstabbers, criminals, liars, thieves, etc. etc. It's only gonna get worse. Why bother getting involved as all it does for me is jack my anxiety through the roof and get me way pissed off. The most aggravating is we finally got someone in office who had this country heading in the right direction. Americans First !!! However, Trump turned out to be the biggest 5 yr. old baby on the planet w/ zero political skills. They call it politics for a reason. It don't matter how talented you are if you alienate everyone. I think Pence would be a great choice as our next President.

Hey Woodwise, I sympathize with you. But I've done a bit of the opposite. I've always been quite conservative, yet didn't have much sympathy for those suffering. As I've gotten older, I see just how crazy the cycle of poverty and dysfunction is for many to escape. I certainly haven't changed my view that smaller gov't is the key for success for everyone, but instead of just wanted to stomp on a bum's nutsack, I'm more interested in coming alongside them and trying to constructively help them see a way out.

It's extremely difficult when the gov't is actively trying to keep people enslaved. I hate to say that, but at least in some instances it's true. My older brother is on the board of a charity in my community that helps ex-cons as they exit prison to find jobs, job-training, etc. to try to re-enter society productively. Very low-skill type factory work at 13-14/hour. They have difficult getting the ex-cons to enter the program because the cash and non-cash benefits they get from not working dwarf what they'll get actually working. With EBT cards, housing assistance, Obama phones, medicaid, etc. people are getting more than 13-14/hour, and then they can work a little side hustle for some cash (weed ain't cheap).

I always tell others, don't be shocked when people respond rationally to the incentives and disincentives placed in front of them. Presently, the system provides incentives to engage in a lifestyle that perpetuates dysfunction. I honestly don't think that was the intention, but that's what it's done, IMO.

You want to see someone get motivated? Once they get hungry and realize that shoplifting food is a good way of getting shot in the ass, they suddenly seem willing to apply for that job. Just three generations ago, everyone, rich and poor alike, were willing to put in a hard day's work, and would have been utterly ashamed at taking a handout.

There is a weekly food give away at a local Moose Club that I pass on my way to work. I bet 90% of the cars waiting in line for free food are newer than mine and cost at least as much.

I don't have a problem giving food to the hungry. But helping someone who can afford a better car than I can is just crazy!
Yep, this right here. Great post

I started out extremely right wing as a young guy. Flipped to the left during and after college. Got disparaged with the left and the right. Registered as a libertarian. Got disparaged with the libertarians. Moderated towards the center for a decade.

But now I really have no home. I'm socially libertarian meaning I could care less what other people do to themselves. You want to chop off your dick and prance around calling yourself Jennifer? Not my business. You're a Muslim or worship the moon gods? Not my business. I'm for drug decriminalization, prostitution decriminalization, gambling decriminalization, if it's not hurting me you can do what you like. I'm pro-4th amendment, but do see instances where our founders couldn't possibly have foreseen what would come. I'm hyper 1st amendment. Basically you're free do wave your fists around until you hit me, so to speak.

Economically I'm a strong populist. Meaning I don't care what "evil" label the right or left puts on a policy.. If the policy works to help blue collar America, I'm for it. If tariffs helps, do them. If tariffs don't help, don't do them. I have no set ideology when it comes to economics. I'm not a capitalist or socialist or communist or anarcho capitalist. I'm for policies that are going to work. Policies that help blue collar America, call the what you want. Generally, I think this means a mixed economy. Some industries are best left to free markets. Some industries need free markets with some controls. Some industries need to be socialized. For instance, I'm in Florida and it's becoming clear that home insurance is going to become unattainable soon. The free market cannot solve this problem here as the insurance companies flee Florida. If the state doesn't step in soon the housing market here will shit the bed.

The world is far too complicated to believe that any one strict system of human management / philosophy can provide the answers to all human problems. As a society we need to learn as we go and just be objective, look at empirical data of what works and keep tweaking the machine.

I have realized how much smarter these politicians think they are than the rest of us, and how willing the rest of us are to believe it too. Willfully gullible.

The people who think that politicians care about them are of the same mentality as people who go to strip clubs, and convince themselves that the strippers really like them.

Reality is that the strippers can’t stand us in the least, but only smile at us from the stage because they need our money for their after party.

Always been further right than left. I seem to be getting further right, but not sure if that's the case or that the left is just bat shit stupid. I couldn't imagine raising a kid in this current environment without going fucking postal.

I have been registered Inderpendent for close to 20 years. I'm with you. Today's political system is a death cult. I try to live towards logos ( as in logos, pathos, ethos).

I agree with this statement, but embedded within it is the attraction of capitalism over government action. With capitalism, the bad ideas die, and get "tweaked," in government bad ideas live forever. There is never any corrective feedback. I don't think it's due to any malign intent, just a nature of the animal.
