This has been a crazy year for sure.

My son and I are going to start our celebration today with a 'freedom ride' organized from our local VFW. One of their members, a Vietnam vet passed away and they are holding a fundraiser and then a big parade of cars in his honor. My son and I are going to attend tonight.

Tomorrow are going to have a small cookout at our house with some close friends. My neighbor goes crazy on firworks every year. This will be our third year here. We built on the lot next to him. We are not in a neighborhood so he is really my only neighbor except the guy on the other side who I cant see. I am guessing he spends 1500-2000 on fireworks. (srs). I reached out to him ahead of the 4th and asked if I could pitch in and told him how much we enjoyed it. He said, it is something he loves to do (he has no kids but has all his nephews and nieces over). So we will be enjoying fireworks from our house

I'll post up some food porn after cookout and maybe some pics from the VFW.

Whats everyone doing for the 4th?

My son and I spent the afternoon at the VFW today. Hotdog cookout and fund-raiser for a Vietnam Vet who passed away. I have never been here before. Some really good people. I made a small donation and one of the guys asked if he could give my son and I a tour of the place. Some really cool stuff honoring those that have served.

I thanked them very much for their service and apologized for what is seems like is a part of this country that wants to flush down the toilet all these guys sacrificed for. I made sure to thank them again. Somehow it is a great reminder of what is important in life. My son and I had a little chat about what some people think America should become. I explained to him the sacrifices and service of both his grandfathers and both Great grandfathers were WWII veterans.

After the cookout, they organized a big ride. It was cool riding along with about 100 other cars. Most had flags and certainly a patriotic group. It was a good thing to do leading up to the 4th.

Some cool cars there too.

Nice 57 vette. I am in love with the red Chevy II. My son got to sit in a new vette. Older guy was super nice. One of the coolest wraps on a Jeep. American flag drape. Really cool. I think about 10 little kids all wanted pics in my car after they saw me let one kid hop in. All in good fun. Thank god no one was eating icecream! And last pic was my son as we got ready to roll out. As messed up a time as this is, I hope my son can look back at this summer and remember more good memories than the crazy Corona stuff.

Keeping it low-key. Some lawn work in the early morning then sitting pool side with the family. My 4 young men got the word; "No one is going anywhere". It is easy to keep them around with a lot of food. I even grabbed some fireworks to blow off around 10:00.

Having a cookout here for some friends. Firing up the brick oven. No pizza tonight, but doing some roasted chickens, sausage and peppers, going to do a few london broils on the grill along with brats and burgers.

Will post some food porn later ;)
