Wife just told me about a patient that she had to intubate this morning. He is in his 40s and a big, big dude. Was complaining of headaches for the last few weeks and his wife said he never has headaches. She said something wasn't right, and he admitted to being on Hgh and aas. He came in with a bp of 170/100 and CT showed a head bleed.
The steroids might not be a direct link, however, long term high bp is absolutely a risk factor. By the way my wife described him, he has been on for years and on some pretty high doses, so I am sure the aas had an impact.
Don't mess with that high blood pressure!
