EASTON — A member of the Easton Police Commission was charged Tuesday in connection to a steroid/prescription drug ring allegedly run by a former Newtown Police Sergeant.
Raymond J. Martin, 48, of Easton, was arrested by federal officials and charged with conspiracy to possess oxycodone with intent to distribute, Deirdre M. Daly, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut announced.
Federal officials arrested Newtown Police Sgt. Steven Santucci and 11 others in an investigation back in April. Dubbed “Operation Juice Box,” the investigation included two months of wiretapping cellphone conversations as well as surveillance of several steroid sales, according to the report.
During the course of the investigation, law enforcement officers seized hundreds of vials of steroids, approximately 600 grams of raw testosterone powder, more than 1,000 oxycodone pills, approximately 350 grams of powder cocaine and four long guns, according to authorities.
Martin is accused of text messaging with other members of the ring and discussing the distribution of anabolic steroids and oxycodone.
