You literally have no idea if you’re in a deficit you’re not weighing your food. That was damn well over 1000 calories. You’re either a complete retard or a troll.
Riro,
Can you please try and refrain from the insults at least?
Make your point without the barbed tongue obnoxiousness. Otherwise, regardless of anything you say that may (or may not) have any merit will just fall on everyone’s deaf ears, so what’s the use?

He’s obnoxious but not wrong. This thread will have no real meaning because it’s an obvious farce. It’s just meant to be drama and you absolutely know it.

No reason though to pour more fuel on it. We can / should at least try and salvage any merit instead of nuking the entire thread.

I'm guessing someone on my ignore list said something? LMAO. Assholes have to stick together I guess. But anyway, it should be interesting to see how my body reacts after eating a certain way for over a year and completely switching gears.

Side note: A typical breakfast for me a few weeks ago would have been a 16oz. ribeye, 6-10 eggs cooked in butter with cheese. Or just over 2,000 calories. The two grilled cheeses were 1,050 so almost exactly half. Pretty good calorie deficit. ;)

Yea… a calorie is a calorie when it comes to losing weight.

But without protein you’re going to lose muscle in a deficit. Your body is pre-programmed that way. It’s sometimes referred to as the metabolic system. When you’re not getting enough calories to meet the body’s energy needs your body starts to systematically shut shit down. It’ll keep the fat stores for future use and start catabolizing muscle that it doesn’t think it’ll need. The muscle that you worked hard to build and likely will want to keep.

“Skinny fat” is the term they use to describe this in the non-exercising, sedentary general population. They aren’t “obese” according to BMI but their body mass is still mushy and saggy. If that’s the look you’re going for then congratulations, you’re well on your way to accomplishing that goal. You’ll look like young Bob from accounting with his khakis hanging off his flat no-ass.

Spoiler Alert: think it’s no surprise that the outcome of this “experiment” will be “I lost 10 pounds. I look like shit, my bloodwork looks like shit, but my hemoglobin numbers are betterish.” Hemoglobin will still be high if you’re still taking TRT. It’s not really an experiment though. It’s called “middle-age suburban minivan Dad”.

Only time will tell. See I have eaten this way before (Standard american diet) and had my calories as low as 1,500 per day and was still gaining fat. So I don't think you will hear be saying anything about losing weight...lol Secondly about a year ago I lost 51 pounds in about 5 months and some of it muscle. I was 241 with slight abs. I'm 46 years old and not trying to be the biggest guy in my little gym to stroke my own ego. As for exercising I'd say I get more than most of the people on this board around my age unless they do what I do plus work a physically hard job. I plan on eating this way until my bloodwork (hemoglobin) is good. If you want to call going from 20.8 to around 16 "betterish" I'll take it. I've posted pics and I'd say I'm in reasonably good shape for my age.

Finally I don't drive a mini-van. I drive a BMW X3 with my dad cargo shorts, nikes, and ball cap. :p

The order of metabolic processes (generally) is first, glucose for rapid energy. Next is glycogen from the liver, then from muscle. Next is fat, and lastly, lean body tissue / muscle. The body does all else for energy before muscle / lean body mass catabolism.

If you’re not eating enough protein your body will drop the extra muscle that it can no longer maintain. It’s not going to be all of it but it looks to conserve energy. Look at guys aggressively dieting during prep. That’s a perfect example.

It is more accurate that muscle size / volume will shrink as glycogen and intracellular water is depleted, but all else, including fat is first utilized / preferential in the effort to negate actual lean tissue catabolism.

Sweet. Then he should be jacked and shredded by the end of this.

Why do we eat protein then?

Preserving, and building, are two different things.
The body is an efficiency (preservation / sparing), biochemical wonder. It’s ability to sustain under various loads and time periods is remarkable. The research of fasting has demonstrated various muscle sparing processes that take place while consuming nothing at all (for various periods of time).

Did gunslinger say he’s not consuming any protein??

Why do we eat protein?
I / We consume protein because it’s an essential nutrient / building block.
Protein and Fat are essential — exogenous carbs are not.
The ratio of macros we consume, combined with type of activity (and other factors such as micronutrients, electrolytes, hydration, peds, etc etc…) will determine body composition.

That aside, as I posted previous, lean body mass is protected / preserved as a last resort. Glucose > liver THEN muscle stored glycogen > then fat is utilized before > muscle tissue begins to be catabolized.

I think you need to go back and have a clear understanding of his initial post. You’re missing a few things.

Until my levels are down I'll be dropping my calories from 4,500-4,800 per day (all meat) to less than 3,000 per day, But I'll basically be eating whatever the fuck I want. (But almost no meat or anything that might raise iron levels) This morning was coffee and donuts. Later after my Jiu-jitsu seminar It will be potatoes, fried cheese and a brownie. My diet will likely be around 70-80% carbs and sugar and the rest fat. But the good news is according to some people on this board because I'll be dropping my over all calories by at least 1,500 per day I should (according to their theories) actually drop weight. My current weight is 200 pounds even. So lets see what happens.

Gonna be an interesting ride!

Not only is he eating next to no protein but he’s also reducing calories from 4,000 to 2,500 (though he’s not tracking anything).

We don’t just use protein to build/maintain muscle either. Which is why he’s going to lose muscle mass.

I would agree with everything you said so far, provided he was still consuming enough protein. But the wacky way he has this experiment set up, he’s not paying attention to eating at least 1 gram/pound of protein. If he modified it to account for that, it would be a better experiment (along with tracking what else he eats).

You and I are stuck arguing over minutia when his “experiment” is shit to begin with. There’s too many unaccounted for variables for him to draw conclusions. He’s gonna look shitty and fat then say “see, a calorie isn’t a calorie”.
