FAIRBANKS — A Fairbanks-bound package of steroids and hormones was recently seized by U.S. Customs, according to Alaska State Trooper logs.

The package contained 1200 anabolic steroid tablets and 11 vials of liquid testosterone with an estimated combined street value of $65,000, according to the trooper report.

Customs agents in California seized the package and notified officials in Alaska. The Fairbanks Statewide Drug Enforcement Unit began an investigation on June 11 and the intended recipient of the package was contacted June 17.

The unidentified man admitted to ordering the items from overseas and said he intended to use them for a bodybuilding competition in October, according to the trooper report.

The investigation is ongoing.
