$20K in steroids seized from Collier fitness trainer's home

8:58 A.M. — A Collier County fitness trainer and his wife were arrested Thursday after detectives seized about $20,000 worth of suspected steroids, along with marijuana and firearms, from their Golden Gate home.

Nicholas Munson Troemner, 28, and Veronica Daniela Troemner, 29, were arrested after detectives with the sheriff's Vice and Narcotics Bureau searched the couple's home at 5440 Teak Wood Drive.

Nicholas Troemner was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of marijuana over 20 grams, possession of a firearm by a Florida convicted felon, possession of ammunition by a Florida convicted felon, failure to register as a convicted felon, and possession of narcotic paraphernalia. He is a fitness trainer at Lifestyles Family Fitness Center, 6800 Golden Gate Parkway, according to his arrest report.

Veronica Troemner faces charges of possession of marijuana over 20 grams and possession of narcotic paraphernalia.

Arrest reports gave this account of the events leading up to the arrests:

Sheriff’s deputies began an investigation into possible drug activity at the couple's residence based on an anonymous tip.

Around 5:45 a.m. Thursday, detectives, with assistance from the SWAT team, began the search of the home.

Investigators found about 200 vials of suspected anabolic steroids with an estimated street value of $20,000.

Detectives also found nearly 800 grams of marijuana with an estimated street value of $6,000. They also found narcotic paraphernalia, including two digital scales, syringes and glass vials. They also found several unmarked pill capsules containing an unknown white powdery substance.

Deputies also found six firearms and numerous ammunition rounds inside the master bedroom. Additional ammunition was found in the garage area.

The viles of suspected anabolic steroids, unknown powder and marijuana were sent to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement laboratory for testing.

Nicholas Troemner was arrested in 2003 on a charge of carrying a concealed firearm and was sentenced to 18 months of state probation.

Additional charges are pending once FDLE lab results are obtain.

The investigation continues.
