Whats your opinion on my training?

Sounds like something similar to the "5th set" by Burns, Panora and I think Carroll. It's a great program, am hearing lots of great things about it. However it is a Powerlifting program.

    Sleep and Recovery

Have you had a sleep study done? You may just have sleep apnea, a CPAP machine, while not cool, is awesome and no drugs necessary.

Internal bleeding from kidney, hospitalization and surgery

Thanks TenaciousA, I'm trying my best to do nothing :-( but I'm not the most patient, I learned my lesson about pushing things, I tried some accessories and it was just too much. So I'm just working on my tan.

Internal bleeding from kidney, hospitalization and surgery

Yeah if it wasn't for PL I may be in a bad place. My parents have hated my lifting but now they love it, when the urologist told them I was lucky things happened the way they did, they love it. I'm feeling ok, just can't lift, cannot wait to be back under a bar.

Internal bleeding from kidney, hospitalization and surgery

Thanks, POB, I've been trying to research as much as possible but I really haven't found a lot. I've heard that protein intake is an issue because it makes the kidney work harder.

    Plantar Fasciitis

I changed over to zero grade, zero support shoes. This solved my problem and I have had no further issues. I just can't go from support to barefoot or sandals and back, it's crippling.

Internal bleeding from kidney, hospitalization and surgery

I was DL-ing in prep for a meet mid-april and in the process ruptured a hematoma on my kidney. The symptoms of the slow bleed were flu-like so I waited before going to the er, I made the issue worse somehow and the bleeding increased. I was admitted to the hospital after the CT scan found...

    New to The Iron Den!

Yep I lift raw with wraps and belt. Bench is my favorite! We don't max often (ever) out of meets but it's looking like my bench is sitting around at least 240, I have a sling shot coming in this week and I'll use it to get use to handling a bit heavier and go from there. I'd like to be sitting...

    New to The Iron Den!

I've been lifting for about 20 years but never really specialized and managed to find one of the best powerlifters in the world in my back yard. It's amazing what happens when you have goals and someone who knows how to help you reach them. I'm hoping this year will be a big one for me, getting...

Best bars for squat, deadlift, and bench

Love this kind of info. You can see the whip out of the hole with the thinner bar. I have a team mate who comes out of the hole so fast that the bar is a half inch off his shoulders when he hits the top. This was happening when we were in meet prep and training with the thinner bar that would be...

Best bars for squat, deadlift, and bench

We started using a Bulldog bar for squats mid summer. It's 65lbs and is a monster and took some adjustment. The feel in the hand and across the shoulder was so different compared to a 45lb bar, just feels brutal and massive. It fits nice on the traps and the smaller bars just feel odd now.

    New to The Iron Den!

Hi! It was suggested that I check the forum out and it seems like it has a great atmosphere with plenty of helpful lifters. I'm a female Powerlifter, have only been competing about 8 months. I train under a coach. My current numbers are 400/225/315 (please don't laugh at the DL it's my...
