I agree with this but always remember just because you can, doesn't mean you should. I spent a year prepping to actually lift. I was lifting but not lifting, I think we all know what that means. TONS of band work. weights with bands, chains with bands, contraptions I made with my 3-d printer, it was all about stimulating rather "lifting".
Totally agree but I was more so talking about just everyday activities such as grabbing a dish out of a cabinet above shoulder height. Instead of using my right arm which I would normally do I used my left since my right was still slightly sore/stiff… I think if I pushed it more during normal everyday activities I would’ve actually recovered faster

Great thread A1. You know what I have went through so when i say pump the brakes on lifting, that means throw the damn e-brake. like me, you screw this up and its going to be far worse the next time. TBH I don't have a next time so what happens i live with the rest of my life. Never take for granted you have another shot at this ( Rotator replacement) Do it right and be done with it this time. In the timeline of your life this is a blip on the radar, act accordingly. Pump those brakes, then pump then again.
Sage advice my friend.... and spot on.... gotta remember that this is just a notch on the time line. My ortho said the same thing, theres not enough good tissue to anchor to if this goes south.... so I will be practicing the ZEN of the pink dumbell....OOOOOHHHMMMMM.

I'm gonna leave this here for your ridicule.... a 105 pound woman made me tear up yesterday... felt like the most brutal half nelson of all time but was really just her trying to get that shoulder to open up... now I know why they call her mean Jen lol

Is she at least hot? My PT was smoking hot, if I was in there for a groin muscle or lower abdominal issue I would have gotten myself in trouble when she went poking around

yes... and considering she's got three kids ? smoking..... was a gymnast in college... que the 80's porn music.... no no no... not a penthouse thread...

Respectfully though, really seems to know her shit, and her straight forward style works for me very well... she cuts right to the chase

Gotcha and I agree. I was (and somewhat still am) afraid of the instinct to reach out or grab something falling or that fast reactive motion for anything. It happened a few times but I was lucky enough to get away with it.

right no my biggest fear is the weather. The ground has started to warm but mother nature has decided it wasn't snowy enough this winter. We have had snow now 4 times this month, always wet and heavy and the bottom layer is either ice or slush. had my feet slip a couple times and you get that sick feeling in the pit of your stomach when you try to counter balance but your arms in a sling. without the sling I'd be throwing that arm out and that would not be good..

As everyone said just because you can do something doesnt make it a good idea. I've had some close calls that became wake up calls. I hate everyone treating me like a baby but you have to humble yourself.

I show people the scars and tell them that I got shot 3 times and slashed with a machete. Some people are so dumb that they believe it lmao

There's nothing much to report...

Bp 124 / 88
pinning as usual no change
weight down to 212 that's good I was getting fluffy.

I'm passed all the early markers for positioning in all planes. Jen is pushing the stretching a bit, she's worried that I'm laying down too much scar tissue in the joint itself, the humeral head seems to hit a "road Bump during anterior flexion that goes away after 95 degrees. Still only assisted movement work but hoping at the appointment on the 11th they will clear me for those pretty pink dumb bells.

and one major news flash.....I CAN TOUCH MY BUTT AGAIN!!!!!

that's it for now.... not very exciting except for my butt... :p

A1, it's been 7 months since your last post. How did things turn out? Hope all is well.
I had a total shoulder replacement in Jan. Wrote a post about that. I consider myself very fortunate with the outcome. I have been doing lifts I couldn't do for years. Trying to stay cautious--cannot have this thing fail now.

That's been my main concern about shoulder surgery recovery.

I've probably been making things worse by putting it off so long, but Wifey says she doesn't remember anything in the marriage vows about wiping my butt.

Srs ... some of the best threads here deal with injuries, surgeries, and recoveries.

Remember, until healed, you still have the other arm to take of such activities :)
Of course I'm right-handed and had the left shoulder done.
