14, grocery store. Would bag groceries and take them out to load up people’s trunk. Before that, I would cut grass in the neighborhood.

Did you clean the windshield and check the oil as well? Some places, the kids even wore uniforms. I suspect that went away in the early 60s, just not sure.
No uniforms but i did check the oil and clean the windshield. Would usually get a little change as a tip.

Lawn care for an industrial center. $150/month to be the sole maintenance guy for the complex that was in 1982ish. Well actually a paperboy but only did that for a month or so, no one would ever pay me... a-holes!

Mowing lawns was my first job. Had 10 yards I did. I would mow 2 a day and take the weekends off during summer. Made money like crazy!
First real job was a mail clerk at a bank. $3.25 an hour. Regretted giving my lawns to another kid in the neighborhood.

So I’m the only one that hauled hay? Where I grew up I think that was like every boys first job. :)

I worked in a dodgy diner. I worked for two weeks before pay. The owner bitch gave me 20 bucks, massively underpaying me. I took off my apren and threw it in her face and quit. That was the extend of my work in the food industry. Turned out the bitch was pimping out her own daughter. She did some time. She was a piece of work.
