Alternatives are strong local gov and state powers over Federal over reach. Honestly, I think we're in a lot of trouble when it's pretty obvious the centralized power in DC does not represent any of us. But hey, let's keep fighting over what guns we can have, being forced to have shit injected into us and how racist we are. That will keep us busy while they treat us like fools and rob us blind.

Forgive me if I missed it but does anybody have an alternative to a physical uprising?

Well, voting has always been a civilized approach to making changes. Seems that solution is out the window as our votes no longer count. Writing congress is useless as they no longer represent us. Protest are a waste of time as no one pays any attention to them. Seems like we the people are being backed into a corner with no way out while our rights to freedom are quickly being taken from us.

I know revolution is a last resort but at what point do we decide to get off our knees? Do we wait until they come for our guns? We don't stand a chance with rocks and bottles. I think what restart just said is an option. Strong State and local government. Insist on state rights over federal control. Exactly what our government is doing in Texas.

I don’t have cable and don’t watch the news. I’m not active on social media. But I do frequent a local biker bar on the regular, and the shit that is legitimately talked about in there by gang members all the way down to average redneck drunks, combined with what I read on here, tells me that people are indeed thinking like that. They might not realize the slippery-ass slope that leads to that is basically underfoot, but it sure seems too close to fruition for any comfort from an outside perspective.

I just don’t feel like I’m on my knees, is the difference I guess. As a veteran I’ve felt what’s it’s like to have the govt tell you what you can and can’t do on a much more restrictive scale than what civilians have had to endure for the last 13 months, and I’ve been in countries where women can’t speak or show themselves and gays get thrown off of buildings or beaten to death with canes.

Is there some weird shit going on right now? You’re damn straight the country is fucking twisted up and confused and divided. But I think we’re spoiled as fuck too and should just keep grinding it out until it gets better.

I agree with you as a Vet too. I volunteered to go to Vietnam to protect the South Vietnamese against tyranny of the communist dictator of the North. I saw lots of horrible things as a result. I have seen what happens to people when a tyrannical government takes all of their rights away and forces them to live on their knees. Can this happen here?

My wife is from Argentina and saw what happens 1st hand when a tyrannical government takes over and robs the people of their rights to freedom. How members of her own family were accused of being subversives and tortured, some never to be seen again. She was robbed of her college degree in law when the same government burned colleges and destroyed all of their records. Later on in 2000, government froze the bank accounts and life savings of all the people. devalued their currency and only allowed them to have what the government though they needed to take care of basics. The people of Argentina could only beat of pots and pans in protest. How far away from this are we here? Are we going to sit back and be complacent until it is absolutely too late to even fight back?

Americans better get out of their comfort zone and keep their eyes open. We are having out Constitution shredded right before our eyes. We have a government that is out of touch with the people who elect them to represent us all. Our votes no longer matter. What happens when we wake up one day and our life savings has been take from us and our right to free speech is gone and our rights to fight back under the 2nd amendment has been stripped. How comfortable will we all be then? The time to do something is now, now after it is too late.

What we have done as people is allow government to divide and conquer. We are now divided by race, religion, sex, income and ideology. Our culture is being destroyed by allowing the endless flow of illegal immigrants into this country, crime to rise, poverty to rise. Our economy has been devastated by shutting down the country over a flu virus. We had medication that work hidden from us allowing Americans to die and vaccine manufacturers to make a fortune. Our US debt is so high we may never pay it off. Now that we are down, jobs are lost, foreign workers are given preference to American because they work for nothing, gas prices rise, food prices rise and it is getting harder and hard to people to every achieve the American dream.

I am retired now and work part time. I get no raises, get no cost of living increases, have no job security in my part time job and just hope the economy will stay stable so all the money I have saved during my life makes money. I could easily wake up one day and see it go because of some stupid decision this government makes. Health insurance is a disaster. Most American can no longer afford to take care of their health because it just cost too much. We pay a fortune for insurance that we can't afford to even use. Seems to me our comfort levels are slowly sinking into the abyss. Any day we could end up like Vietnam or even Argentina. How many of us will step up to defend our Constitution or our families then? Or will just just keep giving in to tyranny and accepting what we have been forced to give up is better than the alternative.

I, _____, do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same.......when I took this oath, I swore it for life. I sincerely pray I never have to stand on American soil and defend the Constitution against our own leaders. But i wll not be ruled by tyranny.

I agree with everybody here, a Civil War would devastate the USA. I have no idea if it will ever lead down this road, but I also fear right now we are at least closer to it than ever in my lifetime. That doesn't mean it will happen, but we are definitely in a clusterfuck of division. I also agree that many of the differences between a 'normal' lefty and righty are minimal, but the mainstream media likes to glorify, or defend, the radical lefties and socialists out there for some reason (votes?),and they seem to be gaining traction across a lot of the braindead population, especially the younger population. It could easily be weeded out, and I don't understand a lot of these cities that harvest it and let it continue. I'm of the opinion that despite our differences between parties, that a majority are not in favor of a civil war, and I find that good. However, i'm not naive that people are trying to fundamentally change the way we live in the USA....education, religion, 2nd amendment, hell first amendment, reparations, illegal immigration, defunding LE, watering-down and weaking our military, silencing of opinions and views, whitey is racist, cancel culture and the PC crowds.....it's all nonsense. AT what point do we continue to let them run their course and box us into a corner is the real question, as BigTex mentioned. I absolutely view a CW as a last result though, and I am definitely not in favor of one. I think we still have a little ways (hopefully a lot),but who knows.

I would also fear that the day we would fall to a Civil War, would possibly be the day that our Nation is susceptible to an invasion from another foreign power.

Forgive me if I missed it but does anybody have an alternative to a physical uprising? There doesn’t have to be divided lines for us to have a civil war. By definition it’s within the civilian population of one nation and the North/South thing wasn’t as clear as you think either, but I digress.

Is your life so horrible that you need to kill other Americans to defend the right to [insert issue here]?

Is it ok for someone else to snipe your wife while she’s grocery shopping for the enemy, or your teenage son because he’s old enough to shoot?

Things to think about?

There's a solution. But it will require people putting side their tribal natures and talking to the other side. This is what the Intellectual Dark Web people are doing. They're having 1, 2 or 3 hour conservations on tough issues.

Atheists sitting down with religious people to talk for hours. Conservatives sitting down with liberals. Etc. The first thing that happens is both sides agree to "Steelman" the other's opinions. Steelman is the opposite of strawmanning another person's perspective. In Steelmanning another person's perspective you need to argue the other person's perspective in a manner in which the other person finds satisfactory. These conversations are strictly respectful. All sides most accept that the other side has good intentions, just a different perspective. The arguments follow logic. Both sides keep hyperbole and drama out of the argument. See Jordan Petersen VS Sam Harris as a great example of this.

In the end there are only two recourses. Honest, open, fair and respectful conversation where people debate and keep the temperature down and come to an acceptance of each other... or violence. I'm betting on violence. Americans love the 'feeling' of us VS them. We're always right, they're always wrong. Our intentions are good, their intentions are evil (or delusional at best). Politics nowadays isn't about improving the country, it's about identity.

I know two brothers in their 60's. One voted Biden the other Trump. They disowned each other. If we've come to the point where two brothers will disown each other, good luck trying to get strangers to accept each other's differences.

I'm still hoping a few more states sign onto the Constitutional Convention and some flaws, or rather misinterpretations, get fixed. I'm not sure how "the Establishment" in DC would react since we've already seen they will go so far as to spy on a sitting President and try to get him removed over evidence they made up (Steele Dossier). I guess that's my one hope of a peaceful solution.

I think it would have to be a major legal battle for a state to secede because it’s against the constitution. But the constitution is getting torn apart these days anyway so it’s not beyond the realm of possibility.

Not wanting to get overly involved in this — I’m not gung-ho for civil war, but things have advanced that direction far more than any time post revolution. I’m near 100% anti the status quo ruling class construct we call govt. Things HAVE to change and I’m hopeful there’s some way of a new beginning that doesn’t have to be with violent barbarism.

So far as the “cancel culture” occurring, it’s a calculated social engineering project aimed at forcing the manufacture of consent. This is clear.

You know guys, we have a very large immigrant population here in Houston. Many of which are refugees from countries like Cuba, Venezuela, and Vietnam. We have quite a few of in the gym where my wife and I train. All of them have one thing in common, they are scared to death of the signs they are seeing in America and the direction it is going. They see the same changes taking place they saw in their former country and do not want to have to re-live the horrors of a dictatorship taking over. I talked to a Vietnamise guy who fled Vietnam as a child. He was in tears afraid to have to go through a nighmare once again in a country that had taken him in and provided a sanctuary from tyranny. I had a Vietnamise karate instructor who showed me a nice garden in his home with a little pond and fish. He said it was just like the one in his former home in Vietnam he loved so much. The North Vietcong burned his house down and destroyed the garden. I worked with a Cuban lady that told me of the horrors she and her husband endured in Cuba as a young people under Fidel Castro. The women in the gym from Venezuela tell stories about losing all they had to the government and coming to the USA with what ever they could get out with. Educated people with good jobs all torn from their former countries by a tyrannical government only to end up in America, now with the fear that this could happen once again.

We in America have never lived this horror and can't even imagine how real it is. We have had a very comfortable life and gotten so complacient that we have allowed government to do what they want. Even though there is talk of rebellion, I have zero confidence anyone is going to get off their ez chair, put their beer down and fight for what we have, Since 911 we have been too willing to give up our freedom, one right at a time. we have allowed government to spy on us and lie about it wiht no consequences. We elect a bunch of corrupt politicians who are only interested in personal greed that we don't hold accountable. Our state run propaganda media make the old Soviet Pravada look like a a school news letter. Yet we still watch and still let them lie to us. We are allowing the government we elected to dismantle the US Constitution despite taking oaths to protect it. We as Americans have completely forgotten the words of some of our great leaders, "We the people are the rightful master of both congress, and courts. Not to overthrow the Constitution but to overthrow the men who pervert the Constitution." -Abraham Lincoln, 1861. Our foreathers left this right and duty ultimately to the people of this country. Somehow we have to stop the division in thsi country and bring the people together in hopes we all see the true enemy of this country is our own elected government.
