Been training on and off for a few years - mostly off with kids etc. I'm a fit and youthful 47 by the way.

I never managed to sustain the training, and never quite managed to ditch the gut or get numbers I wanted to see from my lifts. I was progressing, but very slowly, and it seems if I had to stop for injuries or overseas work travel, I lost my strength and put the kilos of fat straight back on.

I was resigned to this hard slog, and perhaps always having a bit of a pencil neck look. To be honest, I've been low T all my life, and as soon as I admitted it to myself, I suddenly found I could be objective. It's hard because the old man was a soldier, boxer, and all round bad ass, and I always felt robbed of something.

A little voice has been growing and finally I looked properly into things like cycling and TRT, and wow, I have never come across so much misinformation from the establishment and people in the street about any subject ever, and I've been through the whole gamut of alternative thinking so this is saying something.

Long story short, I read and read and read. Then I got some Testogel online, and without any doubts at all started to try it out. After a few days, I'm clear enough already T is my future. The lights have come on and I am getting memories from feeling like this 20 years ago.

I don't plan on doing this anyone else's way. I am not going to be the TRT guy who signs up to a lifetime of paying through the nose, and I'm not trying to look conspicuously muscular. I just feel ashamed I can't do 10 pull ups, always have. I am going to get myself a damn back before I die, whatever it takes.

In all likelihood I'll end up brewing myself. We'll see how it goes

Welcome Jay, there's a lot of alternative thinking here, and it's coming from guys who've been thinking that way for 10 - 30 years. Doing it your way is often better than the establishment way, but only when you're well informed.
Stick around.

Welcome to TID @jay_victor .

Have you had any blood work done?

Thanks Lizard King, appreciated. No I have not.

Thanks rawdeal, yeah, I looked at quite a few forums before I found this one. Never joined a fitness/training one before, but this one appeals for some reason.

It's early days and I'm not sure what to do as immediate next steps. Apart from resume training and clean up the diet (no booze or sugar) after Christmas overseas.

As for blood work, I'm not sure whether to cut out the gel (I'm only 2 days in) and go back to baseline and go for full panel of hormones, or run the gel until I figure out how to safely get onto injectables then start measuring T to get into the range I want. Any suggestions about how to go about getting blood work done in the UK welcome. What I've found is online T alone costs £30, and for £60 (Optimale) you can do the hormone panel for T, Free T, estradiol, psa, SHBG and the rest.

I am pretty sure whether I cycle or cruise, I'm going to probably stay to high end physiological T levels rather than push for over 900 ng/dl. I'm not in a huge hurry and would like to minimise sides. I'm also thinking of staying on T only for this reason. I'm done having kids, don't care about having grapes for balls, or losing hair. After the last couple of days, it's as much the state of being I'm after as the training results, if not more. Very hard to put into words, but I feel sure many will relate to this.

Mostly Yanks here, so we may speak English a little differently ......... is doctor-prescribed bloodwork and testosterone prescription a reasonable option, as far as convenience and price where you are?

(in which case, yeah, you would want to get off the testogel before the doc evaluates you)

We're a bit backward over here compared to the good ol' USA. It's rare for a doctor to prescribe TRT, but to be fair I haven't tried. The guidelines the docs work to over here make it very difficult unless your levels are non-existent. If you do get in to the program, the doc will decide on whether gel or injections will be offered in the end, and they will need to approve your dose based on blood work. If you get it, it will be free (National Health Service, or NHS). You can go private, but this is ridiculously expensive. Consultations, tests, treatments and drugs will add up to hundreds and hundreds.

I don't want to use gel medium or long term and I want to be free to dose as I see fit indefinitely. Before I say this, I want to be clear I'm not seeking to find sources via this site. I'm here to share the journey, get some advice/shared experience and maybe one day contribute back what I've learned. Having said that, my 'research' indicates that obtaining legit T in the UK is no problem. Also down the line brewing appeals to me (I have a mad scientist alter ego)
