So how many guys in the 198 class can pull 800? I know about Norris and Caleier. I was just wondering overall how many actually conquered the 800# mark.
My next meet I will be pulling 750+@198 if everything goes as planned. I said at 41 if I did it I would stop. Well being a PLer I stopped thinking about stopping and started thinking about 800. I personally think the number is about 10.

Not sure on the number of guys because I'm not paying powerlifting watch, but anywhere near that number at any age and any bodyweight is already exceptional. So at 198 and 41 yrs old, my hat is way off to you. Are you competing full power?

Are we talking USA or world?

Wow that's Awesome. I just stepped into the 198 class. I walk around at 198 so I have more to gain and stay. RAW anything over 700 is impressive. Congrats..

I haven't hit 700 in single ply yet...But I'm only 36 and your 41. So I have time..:)

Little History I'm sure we all already know...

1977 - Vince Anello became the first man in history to deadlift over 800 pounds while weighing under 200 pounds. He was able to pull 805 pounds at a bodyweight of 198.

By 1984, Ed Coan began making a name for himself. He pulled 788 pounds at a bodyweight of 181. By 1985 Ed was competing in the 198 pound class and deadlifting 859 pounds

The best raw deadlift in 198 class Masters (40+) according to PLW current rankings is 660.

Open Division there is exactly one raw deadlift over 800 in 198 class and that is as you mentioned Cailer Woolam with 881. Behind him is 782 lbs, 3rd is 760.

Meh...according to some people on the boards that's pretty common and at least 4-5 ppl at their local gym pull that regularly at under 200 pounds.

All bullshit aside that's impressive as hell.
