Tired of window shopping...tired of lifting with my Troy GOB-86...it's a cheap 30mm 600lb capacity stiff bar, that has surprisingly held up to everything I've thrown its way so far...it's also technically the only Bar I've ever lifted with...

should I invest in the OHIO?

any other suggestions or recommendations?

Yes. Seems the same as a Texas powah bah. So if the price is right, invest.

I would suggest getting an actual dl bar or use the troy for that. Take care of the new investment.

I'd say get whichever is the better pricepoint. I've never used the Ohio but I train regularly with a TPB.

OPB is about 1/2" tighter between the collars

OPB is about 1 1/4" longer in the sleeves

Differences in knurling

Lately the popular choice seems to be The Ohio...most people say the knurling gives a better grip for pulls, despite The Texas PB having a more "raised" pattern...

OHIO PB Diameter = 29mm
TEXAS PB Diameter = 28.5mm

Bare Steel Ohio PB cost = $264.78 Shipped
"Buddy Capps" Texas PB cost = $289 Shipped

For general training they're both about the same...... if you're looking to start doing any serious powerlifting it'd be worth investing in DL and SQ specific bars

had to put it on the back burner for now...also had to drop out of what would have been my first meet at the end of this month....work has been crazy...we recently lost our first in the line of duty.

I've seen TPB's for $250 on different sites. Now that's before shipping.

yea, cheapest I found New + Shipped was $289...if you find a cheaper price, let me know, would appreciate it...although when the time's right, will most likely be going with the OHIO...

Damn, sorry to hear about the loss. Sometimes a distraction is good so maybe work being busy isn't such a bad thing.

I lost a brother in July. He was KOD. My condolences to you and all of our brothers and sisters!

For what it's worth I got the OPB for pulling and I love it. Just find out what the meet is using so you can prepare accordingly.
