My wife wants some advise from you gals...I think her hormone levels are way jacked up. I won't go into symptoms, but personally, I feel very sure she has estrogen dominance.

After going too long ignoring this I also think this imbalance in estrogen may have lead to adrenal fatigue and now even her thyroid seems exhausted. I know this is a "Chicken or the egg" sort of situation so we're not looking for diagnosis...

Liddy and I are wondering if she should go to her internist and (IMO) run the risk of having her levels not really studied or (since her insurance covers a specialist without a referal) just head directly to an endo?

I know this is a strange question, and I've been telling her to go to an endo, but I think she needs another females feedback...

Thanks ladies...oh, and I've got plenty of T3 in the event she flakes out on getting this bloodwork done. She'll put the doctor off for months, if not years, sometimes. I figured if she does pull that I can at least try her on a low dose of Cytomel cause her metabolism has slown to almost nothing.

Respect gals.....:)

dont waste your time and her emotions on going to an internist. you need a endocrinologist that specializes in WOMANS hormones! they are kind of hard to find but well worth it if you can. this is a whole side of medicine that is very overlooked and underexamined in women! they can make bioidentical hormones these days and do very low doses etc etc. also, an accupuncturist might be worth looking in to. make sure you find one that is a doctor that specializes in accupuncture. but it is AMAZING what can be done with that. if she is hesitant to go the doctor for fear that they will not find anything wrong (believe me, i deal with this with my mom all the time. the doctors never listen because they are too busy and they always say there is nothing wrong) then try an accupuncturist, it is a good inbetween.

good luck. dont be afraid to see more than one doctor. you have to find one that knows how do treat what you are dealing with. doctors are busy and if you dont force them to pay attention, most of them are going to blow you off and move on to the next patient in the next room. it is how the insurance makes it and it sucks!

these are awesome doctors. i would love to have one in my area. not that i have any medical issues but it would be great to be able to get the attention you needed. usually you pay a yearly membership fee (several thousand dollars) and then your normal charges for exams and blood work etc. they have a limited clientle base, generally less than 500 patients. it is a great way to get good medical care if you can afford it.

Endo period. Not worth being a guessing game.
