Here is some training footage of Gerry Mc Namara from Ireland. In this session he is squatting 410kg / 903 lbs for a single at a bodyweight of 156lbs. Gerry is getting ready for the Irish national championships in 3 weeks. He is coached by Big Louie Simmons of Westside Barbell.
Wow..... he squats super wide for a short guy too..... that's crazy!
Holy tits.
Anything over 5x your body weight is insanity!!!
Gaww damn!
I'm impressed @ 156lbs he was able to pick up 900+lbs, but not impressed with his depth. Looked a few inches from parallel.
I said the same thing at first Zomb, but I say Louie's comments somewhere else on this video saying that depth wasn't their concern this day. They were focusing on moving heavier weights through a partial ROM to help get use to the increased poundage.
Handling that much weight at his bodyweight is definitely impressive. Suits aren't even strapped either. This guy moves big weights in competition too.
an amazing lift. Even with straps down. Depth..I agree..was more of a "dink" then a deep lift but..this could of been their intention anyway. Put heavy weight on his back to get him ready.
def a short fella there. Wether partial or full or static holds, 900+ pounds is a boat load of weight on anyone. I would challenge most to just hold that weight on them for anytime. push comes to shove thats a lot for that weight
beast mode. I agree on the depth but, westside is knownfor overloading and partials to build strength. Amazing!
Strongest leprechaun I've seen
Maybe we can take up a collection for some several new pairs of shorts for the guys who are spotting.
Hes after me lucky charms!
