My father is 62 and interested in self prescribed trt as his insurance is almost nothing. The health related sides such as heart failure or anything along those lines are what has me concerned for him. He has arthritis pretty bad and wont be doing much lifting he just wants to feel better and have more energy. my questions= is he going to get a better sense of well being at his age at cruising doses say 250mg a week? I posted here before i googled anything because i was hoping maybe a more experienced person could give some in site.
A weekly injection of 200 mgs of Test Enanthate would make your dad feel like a new man. That being said, I still think he should be under the watch of his doctor if he decides to go on self prescribed HRT... his doc should run standard blood tests, check blood pressure often, etc. I highly doubt that a small dose of Test would cause any negative effects to your dad but... better to be safe than sorry.
He'd probably do well with 125mg a week. 150mg puts me above the range at 1300.
He'll def feel better but I don't think he needs to be on 250mg/wk of test. Have his levels checked to begin with and have someone monitor him to keep him safe/healthy.
250mg is too much, especially since he doesn't lift. 100mg would probably be all he needs. We get used to high doses and think that 250 is nothing but with true TRT at that age, it's probably twice as much as he needs.
Thanks for the info. The test i get is 250 so ill just have him hit half on mondays .
I wonder at that age a combo of test and gh what and how you would feel.
Well i just wanted to comment on your heart failure fear, I WAS in heart failure, however after running low dose test for a year my heart returned to normal function.
Good deal.
The last thing you want your dad to do is self medicate. He needs a battery of tests to determine his problem is, in fact, low T and not low thyroid or adrenal output. The T his body is producing may also be aromatizing into estrogen, which may require an aromatase inhibitor or estrogen blocker. And what about his prostate? His readings may indicate TRT may put him at risk for cancer. Don't fool with this shit. Better to invest in a visit to an endocrinologist than put your dad at risk.
pretty sure his test levels at that age need a boost and the 100mg per week recommendation sounds spot on. So what if it increases cancer, low test levels themselves can cause a vast array of health problems!
I would put him on peptides as GH is expensive as **** with the test and watch him live a much happier/fuller life!
but for sure what you say about bringing him to real endo is the thing to do. If he lives in a small area, the doc will most likely have nothing to do with it.

"So what if it increases cancer"??? Think about that statement.
Listen, I'm over 60, too, and tests indicate I have low T. I've done my homework, visited two specialists, and am keenly aware of the pros & cons of hormone replacement therapy. The research on prostate cancer is not definitive, but some has shown that if the disease is present, its progress can be accelerated by upping testosterone. There are also other potential problems associated with the therapy.
I hope TRT is right for this guy...and for me. Shit, I'm a top 20 masters powerlifter (according to PL Watch rankings). If higher T will drive my total up a mere 85 lbs, I'll set an all-time record in my age division. I want that BAD, but not bad enough to put my health at risk. Before I cross over, I'm going to make damned sure it's the right decision. It's the smart thing to do.

Block your damn estrogen if your worried about cancer, don't eat don't smoke , don't drink don't breath, don't talk,
it all causes cancer. lol
My Pops (67)is on 300mg Test E ew with .50mg of anatrazole every 3 days, estro is with in the normal range.
he feels great, seen one heck of a change in him.
^^^ That's a nice trt dosage! And the prostate can be taken care of with proscar or even saw palmetto.
