Well I had a conversation with my new Fam Med doc, and good thing was he does do it, and allows pts to do it at home. Bad things was my results we on the "low side of normal" which is i'm assuming like 350 or so? So they recommended 100 mg every 2 weeks. fml Is he just feeling it out b/c I'm a new patient or does he really think 100 mg will give me a good effect?

Yeah, IMHO that's on the low side...Sounds like your doc. is pretty conservative and wants to see how you respond...Usually your doc. will want to re-test your BW in a month or so to see where you're at...Seems your doc. is going by the "book" and thinks that 100mg. every two weeks will equate to approximately 7mgs./day and get you into the 400-500 zone...That's pretty low...Don't fret...Once the process is started your doc. should be comfortable raising your dose even if what he's giving you puts you into the "low normal" range...If he seems hesitant to raise the dose, be prepared to "press" him a bit into giving you more...(i.e. I'm still not feeling "energetic", "My libido is still low", "I'm still tired all the time", etc)...Most docs. are pretty responsive once the process is started...It's just getting them started that's sometimes the hard part...:)...Hope this rambling post makes sense...:)...Good luck...

Just because your natural test level was on the low side of normal, doesn't mean you need less exogenous test. Whether you have a 150 or a 350, all of that is gone when you start trt. Natural production is shut off. Your blood test should only determine if you are a candidate. It should not determine your dose. TRT is not suplemental.

That's a great point...I've heard of similar stories where a Doc. starts someone off on a low dose and it makes me wonder if they're trying to somehow "add" the two numbers together...(i.e. patients current test level + trt dosage)...It wouldn't surprise me if a family practice type doc. thought that's the way it works...

Ur better off doing it more often to keep a steady blood plasma level. 50mgs or even 100mgs E4 days will work very well.

100mgs every 2 weeks will not. Cyp and Enanth. while having a potential 2 week ester, are more effective when administered more often. Alot of docs dont understand Testosterone. It has a pyramid effect to it like anything. It increases, peaks and then decreases.

You want a steady stream, you don't want to catch it at the tail end of the decrease. This is counterproductive. You want a straight line on a graph chart. Smaller dosages more often will give you this and show a better overall result.

LOL, the only good part of him giving you 100mg every 2 weeks is if he tests before an injection, it will read at it's lowest.

Make sure that happens :D

100mgs every other week? Really? I start feeling like shit after 10 days if I don't inject myself. I do 250mgs every week and feel perfectly fine.

100mg every 2 weeks is GARBAGE. The first doc I went to put my on 200 every 4 weeks. When I went back for my follow up, I timed it so my blood work would be done at the end of the 4 weeks. Guess what....they were LOWER than when I tested previously. I knew this would happen, but I wanted to show the doc he didn't have a damn clue. I went to another doc and he put me at 200mg/2 weeks. Even this is a little too conservative as the test levels at the end of the 2 weeks is very low. I think 200 about every 10-12 days is more optimal for actual TRT.

The first doc choice was a bad one.
The second one started at what seems to be a normal starting point.
200mg/2 weeks. Then they adjust from there.
when I started thats exactly what my doc gave me. I told him I would do 100mg every week and if he had a problem with that.
He said no. Came back for blood work after a certain time and he adjusted up from there.

Didnt see him for a while (years) just saw him a few weeks ago.
he asked how I was doing my TRT and I told him I was self medicating.
He asked if I took an AI and I told him I took .5mg of arimidex twice a week.
I told him I was taking 200mg of test a week. Blood work came back good and he prescribed me 200mg a week.
200mg a week seems to keep me at the high end of normal now.
The doc took the time to talk to me and so did his assistant.
Even gave me a prescription for every day cialis for BHP.
Great visit, felt like a patient and not a number.

You are fortunate to find a common sense Doc.

At least he is doing it for you... or a place to start anyways. I have had BW done at the VA a few times over the years (Several different docs as well) have always had levels on the lower to very low side of the "normal" range and they will have nothing to do with prescribing TRT. They just keep saying TRT/HRT causes heart disease and other issues. They are so conservative its ridiculous.
