An 18-year-old man from Australind will face Bunbury Magistrates Court after a seizure of more than 700 vials of anabolic steroids and growth hormone.

South West detectives worked with Australia Post to intercept a parcel from the eastern states which led to the seizure of 484 vials of testosterone anabolic steroids, 240 vials of human growth hormone, 4900 tablets of stanozolol and 1400 tablets of clenbuterol.

Detective Senior Constable Gareth Reed said the drugs seized are valued at $120,000.

"South West detectives, with the assistance of Australia Post security, have been investigating the import of steriods into the Bunbury area from the eastern states," Detective Senior Constable Reed said.

"As a result police have seized a number of packages received through a local post office."Detective Senior Constable Reed said the use of anabolic steroids was not only unsafe but illegal.

"The actions of this criminal syndicate have endangered the health of countless members of the Bunbury community and this seizure has created a significant impact on that supply," he said.

"Our intelligence is that these products were intended to end up in the gym environments for people involved in bodybuilding and weightbuilding.

"As far as I'm concerned this is as significant as it gets - steroids seizures are not a common thing in WA and especially seizures of this size.

"The investigations into this syndicate will continue to be rigorously pursued by the South West detectives."

The man is due to face court in October charged with attempted possession of prohibited drugs with intent to sell or supply, possession of prohibited drugs with intent to sell or supply and possession of a prohibited drug.

Further charges are expected to be laid.

Man the postal service here is a bunch of fktards... I managed to get a shipment thru customs, only to have it seized by the postal service in perth. (Capital of wa, just a bit north of Bunbury from this article) their job is to deliver shit, not to go snooping into what's in the fkn package.

It worries me the trends im see lately. Steroids seem to be the new war on drugs. I hope not.

well at least the ozzies put resonable $$ worth on their seizures. if that was here in the states it would have been tagged as worth $2 mil .
I still dont get why le dedicates so much time and effort into this, other than seizing money and property

Now that, at least in the US, drugs like marijuana have been de-criminalized, they need other things to chase down to justify the money they get paid to enforce "drug laws".

Yes, the lab is known. This kid is a fall guy. There's no way he had the money to do this. This is Australia guys, where a vial of test is $100+.
