Thought I would show you all a picture of my Dad from about 55 years ago. He is 5ft 9" and weighed 12st at his best with 17.5 inch arms (not sure what they are in this picture though). His best bench press was 325lb for one rep in competition and 330 in the gym. They used to train in an abandoned school with smashed windows and they had to walk 3 mile their and back to train. Between them they managed to make all the benches and stuff as gym equipment was sparse those days. New Image.jpg

Thanks bigun. All they had in those days were milk eggs and home made natural yogurt. My dad eventually used to order Desiccated Liver Tablets from the states and Casilan eventually came out as the first protein drink (rumoured in those days to set in the stomach like concrete and kill you by non bodybuilders) like the first steroid lol.

Between your mom and dad, you were born to compete. I assume your dad is much older than your mom.

He is 12 years older than my mom. He still trains but he has an illness now that doctors cant seem to put a name to, they just say "its Parkinsonion Related" what ever that means ?. His symptom's cause him to stumble and have trouble starting to walk, but one he starts walking he is ok till he needs to stop and his voice is very, very quiet. He was diagnosed as having Motor Neurone Disease 9 years ago and they gave him a year to live, but he proved them wrong :^) . He still benches 60kg at the age of 75 though :weightlift: . I just wish they could figure out what illness he really has, cuz sport/bodybuilding is his life and it stops him doing what he wants now. Makes me sad :( .

Sorry, made it a bit dark now en I.

Harder times I think. They trained just as hard but less rewards (as in muscle size) because supplements were primitive.

Thanks for sharing that photo.

I really wish your Dad all the best with his health Dallas, on the upside I think that it's great he's still training at 75 years old. That has to be doing him good on some level MF.
