What's New?

Bench meet results. New PR of 420 but did not win the meet.

Weighed in at 206.5. (meet was a last minute entry and did not have time to make 198's...but just doing for the experience)

New PR of 420...but did not win the meet.

I opened with 405
Hit 420 for my second nicely.

For my third, it was go big or go home. I went for the meet win instead of just trying to up my pr another 5-10 lbs.

The guy who beat me had put up 435 so I went for 440 and missed it. I knew it would probably go that way, but I was getting second regardless if I could not push it....so I went for the win. No one plays to tie ;)

The guy won best lifter of the meet and I was second best. So I took second in my weight class and second overall.

Hard to be disappointed with a 420 bench weighing in at 206.5.....but somehow I am a little.

(audio is off sync with the vid a little....the press command was really not that early ;) )

Congrats. After seeing your 415 training video I was worried... your butt came up and you didn't hold it at lock out... but you look strong here in contest - and THAT'S what counts.

Nice job.

Very nice job. Very nice push for your weight also.

Thanks man. And for the help and advice in the past. This is an old dog new tricks thing. I have a good deal of experience in the gym, but zero 'powerlifting' experience.

Feels good to be doing this over 40. I hope to find that happy medium where I can pull it all together in the right balance. (strength and aesthetics)

Very nice job. Very nice push for your weight also.

Thanks. With more notice (decided to do the meet last minute), I could have made 198's, but this was just something fun to do. I never really considered myself a good 'bencher'. It is not something that gets a lot of focus from me. I enjoy deadlifting more. But I am happy (and a little surprised) that I have been able to move this weight over time.

Already congratulated you elsewhere but again: nice job.

I weigh a lot more than you and I will never bench anywhere near that.

See you in the squat rack. :D

If you would have dropped down to 198 where would that have put you place wise with that bench?
