I am a 47 years young guy who has been lifting on and off since I was 15, and seriously lifting since I was 31. About 1 year ago decided to do everything I can to reach my BB goals and I hired a trainer got the right diet and supplement plan (yeah, you can guess what that means), and have had my best year of progress ever.

ATM I am in a cutting phase, on a keto diet of about 3,400Kcals per day, with about 400g protein, 30g carbs and 150 to 200g of fats per day. I started this diet on April 7 at 255 lbs and have lost 12 lbs since then. I lost only 2 lbs the past week, which is my goal going forward until July or so.

I am starting at around 16% bf and hope to get under 10% by the end of this cut.

My trainer is a young (late 20's) strongman competitor who makes his living training middle aged fat guys and gals like me, most of whom do not have as much lifting experience as I do. He kicks my but twice a week in his gym, and expects me to work hard two other days a week in my home gym. Lately I have been getting in only three workout days per week. Now that I am on here I'll have extra incentive not to skip that fourth day per week!

I look forward to the ride here on TID. Let's go!

BW 238#
50 minute workout

Bb Back Squats -- ATG
265 x 6
265 x 10 x 2 sets

400# tire pull
50' x 2
50' (with my trainer sitting on it) x 1 + 50' (with just the tire)
50' (with my trainer) x 1 set + 50' (plain old tire)

Rack Squats (count to two, rest on the bar at bottom)
135 x 5
185 x 5
235 x 5

All these squats were pretty light for me, but up to today, he has had me doing box squats so we started light on Back Squats to get the form right.

I started studying MMA, mostly karate and Jiu Jitsu in April 2009 and got my black belt last fall (1000 pushups plus lots of other exercises, katas, forms, etc. over 4 hours) and now I am studying to be a teacher. I am really enjoying every aspect of the school I am at, whether it is taking classes, sparring, or teaching kids or adults.

Right now, I attend class and help teach a total of 6.5 to 7 hours per week, plus I help with a Muay Thai bootcamp for 2 hours per week. All of this is in addition to my 4 hours per week of weigtlifting. I hope by summer to be in the best shape of my life. After I get there and get a decent tan, I'll post a few pics, but not until then . . .

Thursday April 25, 2013.

Went to a friend's house for dinner last night. Couldn't resist having two beers and some polenta (about 1/2 cup) and a handful of crackers. Now I am out of keto and back up a few lbs from the carbs. Damn! Gotta control myself better than that!

50 minute workout with my trainer.
BW 238#

OH Press
155 x 4 x 4 sets

supersetted with

30# DB Side Laterals x 10; then DB Front Raises x 10; then DB OH Press x 10 x 4 sets

Then Overhead Press the Olympic Bar
4 nonstop sets of 10 behind the neck wide grip, then 10 in front, normal grip

supersetted with Pullups
BW x 10

Repeated the last superset for a total of two sets. These were brutal and my shoulders were burning by the end!

A nice European Pilsner. Don't remember the brand. Haven't had a beer in at least 8 months so they went down nice and smooth . . . It was worth falling off the diet for: 36 hours later and I've lost the couple pounds I gained from that cheat!
